Good work Enite, it is coming along nicely. I like your sketches SirRon; I think rigging the coat to the legs would work and look good.
Animation Challenge #4: Post Progress; Start 12/16/06 End 1/07/07
Eekk! I have a problem. Animation is coming along nicely but rendering now, not even finshed, is taking forever! I don’t think i’ll be done in time! Ratz!
~Chase
If you can see yourself finishing go ahead! Don’t let the deadline stop you from adding something to your demo reel
hi guys
managed to finish it just before the due date
for the cook animation~
animation using lowmax rig
here is the link bad cook
but I guess I will still be tweaking the animation as it does not really feel tt nice hehe
comments will still b welcome as im still learning
cheers!
Hey khet13, that has some pretty good acting, nice animation! There are some things I’d like to point out, mainly things with the hand.
After he smells the meat twice, you have the silhouette of the meat directly on its side,
The right hand is very stiff from 0:09 to 0:14, some subtle movement would be nice to keep it alive.
The motion of him throwing the meat on to the pan, one of the frames has the hand going through the meat.
When he tosses the shaker bottle (salt/seasoning/pepper/etc.?) the hand is on it’s profile making the silhouette look like it’s a claw instead of a hand.
I hope I don’t sound harsh, just want you to improve.
I like that rig, I wish it was for Maya too.
Hi SirRon,
Thanks for compliments and pointing out my mistakes
Nope u were not being harsh at all and im glad tt u pointed em out, after all im still learning.
will correct em soon
Im sure maya has some pretty good rigs right? the Generi rig is not bad as well
Yeah, Maya does have some good rigs. But I want to try LowMax
When I get to learning how to animate with 3DSM I’ll definitely use it.
SirRon - 3dsmax is about the same as maya if u are looking at animation, think u will catch on pretty fast :). u juz need to get pass the interface obstacle hehe.
dudeacle - Thanks man, but i still hv lotz of room for improvement for my animation hehe
So far I only see ‘chef cooks bad meat’ topic, so we can check that off the list but still keep the ‘foot gets shot’ suggestion.
FYI

That sounds good to me. Check back later for a new topic voting thread.
It’s based on the LowMan rig for Maya Here
That’s the first time i’ve heard a Maya user long for a Max rig. There is a HUGE library of free rigs for Maya!!
oh, I know it’s based on the LowMan rig, but it’s not the same. Ever since I saw Ivanisavich’s lip sync animation I’ve wanted to play with it.
I kinda feel like saying Max is lucky to have that rig, seems like everything you need. Then again I haven’t even touched it so I can’t really comment.
foot gets shot topic should be quite fun to animate
Lip sync challenge sounds quite nice as well hehe.
Anyway, here is my revision for the cook
Comments are still welcome!
looks good Khet13.Two things that stood out for me were the pose at the “eureka” moment when he puts his left finger in the air is held motionless for too long and looks like he snaps to the pose. When he catches the salt shaker i feel that only the arm/hand should have so much follow through momentum and less so the head/body.
Hope this was of some help.Nice work.
SirRon,see what you mean about the LowMax v2 rig i hadn’t seen it.The main difference with the head is that the old pivot hinge jaw has been replaced with a fully modeled head with morph targets(blendshapes) equiped with a fully wired parameter control panel.I’m sre you could get someone to send you an .fbx of the head mesh, create your own blendshapes and just substitute the old LowMan head for your newly created one.Wouldn’t take too long.
