Animation Acting Challenge #8: Post Progress, Start May 16th - End June 18th

#61

Cool, cheers for the crits. Nice to get someones else eye to take a look at it. You get so used to staring at it yourself :stuck_out_tongue: I’ll fix that up and post an update.

tris3d you gonna enter too?

#62

Yeah, almost finished it! Loads of problems with mine still lol!

#63

Mmm, mines also alil boring and needs a few things fixed up. I might even start something new and focus on my poses and timing. Still thinking of a good subject to choose…I guess Mexican Luchador Wrestling would be considered sport right? that might be fun…

#64

Hehe that would be great!! Hope to see it soon! I just read my crit on your last piece again and it really looks harsh, I hope I didn’t offend and plus I dont really know what i’m talking about anyway lol! I’ll be posting mine up soon! Maybe tomorrow! I’ve also downloaded the maya learning exe so really looking forward to having a bash on that. Hope the animation side is not to different from 3ds max.

Great job guys. I don’t have the time to work on an animation for this month, I’m having to sharpen my digital drawing skills for a possible interface artist job coming up. So no animation for me for a bit :frowning:

erensaritas:
Wow, that’s a really nice look to your animation. I do agree with simplyme in that there needs to be some more impact in the movement. I’m not seeing enough anticipation before he jumps on the trampoline and when he’s jumping from the trampoline. Kind of like this…

qpaynter:
Yeah, that parkour animation is missing some action. Though I’d still encourage you to stick with the theme, but the more exciting parkour moves. Like rather than landing on a box have him cling on the edge and slide down the wall to cushion the impact. Then climb up and over. Or maybe a triangle jump?

Keep animating guys

#66

Hehe, well it wasnt actually made as Parkour to tell you the truth :stuck_out_tongue: I was just playing with some flips and weighting and I threw some buildings in there for this animation comp :stuck_out_tongue: Thats the reason I will probly start a new one soon. Im thinking mexican wrestling

Tris3d: No offence taken, alot of people have said the same thing about the forward motion. I take it all on board, cause its nice to get another artists eye to take a look. And how can you grow if you dont take crits on board aye :stuck_out_tongue: so all good.

#67

Cool, i’m glad!

SirRon that is a great little demonstration! Shame you cant enter! I’ve been busy working on my portfolio due to an interview coming up but i’ll definitely get mine up within the next couple of days! I only have to animate the face and its only seen for about 3 seconds.

#68

thank u SirRon;
im agree with u need to spend more time on it looking forward to weekend:) having a hard week for now…

#69

#70

hello there

im intersted to participate. but im going to make funny martial art moves. does that count as ā€œathleticā€

hehehe…
im still not found any funny moves there. thx

#71

Yes I’d consider martial arts as atheletic.

#72

Nice work everyone, I especialy like the slam dunk it’s very funny!

Nobody trys the audio clip?

#73

Im trying the audio, I think Ill be not the unique (I hope).

In some days I`ll post the result.

#74

sir, can i just do facial and lipsinc for file ā€œThe last starfighterā€ coz i am a fresher and i will try to finish the full but still.
thanks

#75

haha, cute poses. the first one looks like an opera singer

#76

Hmm… would you move the shoulders, neck and head? If you just want to do the face and lipsync that’s fine, but push yourself more by getting the body to move too.

Happy animating

#77

Okay heres my animation, its about a retired failed pole vaulter who has lost his house keys!
There are so many mistakes in this animation that I almost didn’t enter but I thought what the heck, least its something.

Its just under 3mb. Hope you like. Thanks to Peter Starostin for a great rig.

http://uk.geocities.com/tris3d@btinternet.com/Final.mov ( right click save target as )

Problems i can see…

  1. As he is running his hand actually goes through the pole ( didn’t have time to fix )

  2. Needs loads of tweaking with weight especially the initial lifting of the pole vault.

  3. Wish i had made the initial bending of the pole take longer just before he rises to really give the idea of the tension in the pole and huge acceleration after.

  4. I would have prefered him to be more springy when running rather than slow and in a straight line.

  5. Loads of problems with the dynamics but its not about that hehe.

#78

Hi Everyone. I would like to give it a try on this mini challenge too… I’ll take on the audio clip. ā€œThe Last Starfighterā€¦ā€

#79

yer, i`m doing the star fighter audio to, at this very moment. got a week off work, so trying to hammer away at it. see how it goes.

SirRon, you said in an earlyer post about maybe extending the deadline or are you still sticking to the 18th june?

sorry, just read the first page again. the 25th now. my mistake.
