I am in the process of modeling a cop. I cannot decide whether I should model his belt onto the model or model the belt separately?? The belt will have gun, pepper spray, and walkie-talkie pouches. Any advice? Thanks.

You can almost always get away by keeping props as separate objecst. In maya for example you can combine all the geometry and skin that as a whole (probably combining is not even necessary). In 3ds max, you can add a skin modifier to the belt and skin normally, and shouldn’t give you trouble. Hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. I think I am going to model the belt to the body, but model the flash light, walkie talkie, gun and holster, all as separate objects as you suggested.
