Angle Expression/Bearing not working

#1

I’m experiencing the issue where when selecting brushes like RealBristle, the Angle menu options are blanked out and choosing Bearing Expression has no effect. However, it works properly with pencil, marker, and various other brushes.

With the Pallet Knife, the Bearing Expression has effect but the Ghost Brush cursor does not rotate to reflect the Bearing Expression.

I am on Coral Painter 11.0.017 with the Intuos4 6.1.2-4 drivers on Win7.

I’ve been looking everywhere for the answer.

Thanks.

Without looking at the ones you have mentioned, you do know that it’s normal for some brush categories and/or variants to have a limited menu in the Brush Controller. Some are less adjustable than others and therefore have grayed out options.

BTW. I recommend turning off enhanced brush ghosting. If it works for you, fine, but it is known to cause performance issues. Most people turn it off.

Yes, I do understand the limitation of some brushes. But not having angle/bearing work appropriately, especially for brushes like RealBristle, is obviously an issue. Like I said, not having Ghost Brush reflect the Bearing/Angle effect on certain brushes is also a sign of some problem.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind regarding the Brush Ghosting. So far I have no performance problem other than the aforementioned issue regarding angle/bearing.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, but I think it’s not necessarily an issue. Angle is grayed out in Real Bristle for me too. And I also believe that the ghosted cursor doesn’t always reflect what is meant to happen in all brushes.

Why do you not see that as an issue? There is no inherit logic across the brushes to say why some brushes should have Angle Expression and why some should be refused. In regards for RealBristles, they actually feel less “real” compared to the standard Acrylic Brushes where Angle Bearing Expression works. Seems counter intuitive and really contradicts the concept of “Real Bristles”.

Why would the Ghost cursor not reflect what is meant to happen with all the brushes? What reason would Corel have to intentionally do that? It is a problem/issue. I guess you are also in the same boat.

Are there anyone else with said issue or does everyone else have their Angle working for them?

Thanks again.

I mean it’s not a issue as in a BUG - your copy of Painter is working as it was designed to, as is mine. I assumed your original posts was expressing a worry that something was wrong with your copy of Painter. I don’t believe there is.

Yes, it would be great if all brushes behaved exactly as they do in real life - tilt, bearing, rotation, etc. but we’re at the mercy of the Corel developers in that regard.

The enhanced ghosting shows the positioning of the pen but it will only produce results on the canvas if Corel have designed the software to do that. They apparently haven’t for all variants.
