Hi Razz, great updates. Nice serie of SP’s. Nice environments and the hands look great too!
Anatomy Thread of razz - 2D/3D
Hey man, you seem to be progressing vastly these days.
Widening your range of studies to outdoor scenery and 3D sculpts may very well be the cause of that
I really like the palette in the first one and the overall feel of the 2nd one.
Some of the hand studies seem a bit out of proportions. I think that may be because they are drawn really small. Hands are delicate and at this size, the slightest change can result in an awkward feel of the sketch. Maybe try drawing them a little bigger (say 10 on a page iso 35). Just an idea
The last sculpt reminds me of Adolf H. (yuck!) Can’t crit on those though
Excellent stuff, love your bro’s portrait ! However, I think the pentagon texture pattern you used on the top left should curve around just slightly, to follow the shape of the skull there.
Hey RAZZ
I was just looking at your 3d sculpture…maybe this image will spark your imagination as to what you can do with it to take it further.
This is one of the better concepts that I have seen using that image that you are working on in 3d…just throwing a thought your way.
This image is from Werner Hornung …A great surrealist, and also a CG member…check out his CG PORTFOLLIO…His works and thoughts will really spark your imagination…I think…
GREAT STUDIES AS ALWAYS …RAZZ KEEP GOING…![]()

Glenn
Batte, thank you there!
Magdalena, thanks! It was fun doing it. I don’t do that much, but after this I thought I should sit and sculpt something more often. Only that my pc strives for an upgrade, hehe.
Johan, thanks! Ha, so it’s recognisable. Thanks for the suggestions. I’m thinking of doing feet studies and yeah, doing them bigger would be a good idea. Those little environment studies are really helpful. I try out new stuff and it shoudn’t take more than an hour
I’m still freakin’ slow.
Tizianoadmirer, thank you. You’re right about the pentagon pattern, but I think that’s not a big mistake, if a mistake at all. It’s not supposed to be there as a tattoo on his forehead but just something to add interest.
Glenn, thank you! His pieces do look interesting. I have an image in my head of what I could make in that theme (WW2) but puting it on paper first might be tricky
Anand, thank you
I really do spend very little time doing 3d, hehe.
Little update. I just spend my time sketching from imagination and that’s stuff I’m not going to show. I’ll try and create from them something worth looking at.
For now, here’s a painting I’ve started at the art school and will be finishing at home and a study after Prudhon and also an update on my Bargue copy (crappy photo, sorry).

Hello razz!
I see that the pencil studies are really kicking in! And the portrait of your brother simply rocks!!
Great progress!
Cheers!
Icey
hey razz
I see you use lot of straight lines in your man drawing. You think more curved lines would kill the drawing?
Icey, thank you
Drawing with a pencil is just too fun!
Yangchen, no, I don’t think so. And I don’t use a lot of straight lines in all my drawings. It’s easier for me when doing a study like that to use straight lines at the beggining. And as it is not really finished, even though I’m not going to touch it anymore, it has those straight lines. I vote for free lines. Two artists I love for their linework are Min Yum (Bumskee in here and CA) and Marko Djurdjevic. Curvy lines would help the drawing. At least that’s how I like it.
Mark, thanks
Well you’ve been gone for a long time man!
A crappy imaginational speedie. Erm, when I was doing this I realised how much I still have to learn. Yeah, great. Still something better then how it was before, though crappy. I should really figure out how I want it to look before starting to paint. Maybe next time.

Dude, your thread rocks! =) That speedpaint of your is pretty cool too. Something funky about the side of his head there though, but I guess you’re using your artistic license? =)
Anyhoo, I’ll be keeping a close eye on your thread. So much to learn from you. Keep up! =)
Hey Razz
Been browsing back a few pages in your thread… as I’ve been snowed under and
not had much time lately to visit
Wow it’s inspirational to see all the work you’ve been posting!
I like your selfportraits! looks like it was an exciting journey, hopefully you’ll revisit and
keep exploring that one. Also your imaginary work is coming along and the portrait of your
brother is great too; it’s got an almost clown like, [but not in an amuzing or scary way] feel about it, good colours and expression.
No need to say keep it up as you are charging along - keep enjoying though!
cheers
a.
Yangchen, haha, not everyone with a mohawk is Marko Djurdjevic. That one’s imaginational and I didn’t have Marko in my mind when painting it.
Vaaken, thanks. Well, yeah, I kind of worked mostly on the face and left everything else veery sketchy so it, of course, might look funky in some places.
Frejasphere, thank you. Haven’t been updating a lot these days. At least not as much as I would. I’ve been drawing as I was but when it’s imaginational, there’s not much to show
You know what I mean.
Yes, someday I will do a week or two of self-portraits. That sure is fun and and teaches one a lot. Thanks for stopping by.
Little update.
1-2. Imaginational
3-4. Photo refed

I love these studies, it’s clear how mych you manage anatomy and pencil in a “quick but intense” way.
Bravissimo.
HEY …RAZZ…
Just stopping by to see what you’ve been up to lately…never know what to expect, but it’s always interesting, and most of the time a pleasure.
Hey…that guy with the mohawk…alot of nice things happening in that one…looks like you, to me anyway…
Those action figures from imagination that you just posted, are getting much stronger than your previous ones…GREAT to see that happening…![]()
I really like that last one posted…MODERN EXPRESSIONISM…:applause: ![]()
ANYWAY…As always, I really enjoyed the visit…
Keep up the great work, and great progress …RAZZ…![]()

Serena, thanks! Getting better slowly. And these quick imaginational drawings do help, because you know, I’m not very comfortable ith drawing from imagination. So little stuff like that, just putting ideas down on paper, also practising anatomy this way is really useful to me
Glenn, thank you! Haha, that’s not me
It’s Andrew Jones. I’ve mentioned this artist many times before here. I feel myself that the imaginational stuff is getting better. All those studies I’ve done must be helping to get better faster
And I’m practising imaginational drawing much more these days. I do want to create my own art.
Few crappy speedpaints from imagination. Just trying out new stuff. I will scan the pencil stuff once I have more to show.

Oh, next week is holiday!! Will try and surprise you with more updates hopefully!
razz you never cease to amaze me.
Thanks for providing tons of inspiration! You guilt me into working harder.
Rebecca, thanks! It’s you who inspires and guilts me into working harder! After your update…whoah! I’ll marry my pencil. I hope someday I’ll be able to thank you in person
Little stupid sketches. Imaginational if not written otherwise. Please critique, especially if you see a mistake that goes from sketch to sketch repeatedly.

I think I’ll dive now into practising my linework by doing the imaginational stuff.
Cheers people!
