Very nice work! The maya sculpture has a great sense of form. However the topology is a bit weird, your using a bit too many n-gons (greater than 4 sided polys) which could be problematic if you decide to animate the head.
Thanks a lot!
As for the Maya sculpture, it´s almost 100% quads. I guess they somewhere look like n-gons to you due to the subD wireframe.
However the topology could be better. I would do it a little bit differently now, particulary the loops in the nose and mouth area.
Here are wireframes of the base poly cage:
Hi Raptor…
Great start on the head… the ear is beautifully done… just one small suggestion regarding your mesh-construction, though: I took the libery of painting over your image to make my point clear… the purpose is to make facial animation easier, by defining the mouth area and the cheek area as separate quad-patches(outlined with yellow)… makes it easier to detail the laugh line(crease) better.I have just drawn the rough layout… you can make variations within the frame, and it will still work… Hope this helps… Cheers!![]()

Hi Anand P.G.
Thank you very much for the correction of topology on the head. I appreciate it.
This head was modeled using poly by poly technique which I don´t like so much but wanted to try it. I rather want to learn box modeling which is harder but seems better to me.
Your suggested wireframe and info will help me a lot (added to my topology gallery).
Feel free to paint over anything.
BTW you have got some great models in your portfolio.
Cheers.
Finally I got to photograph the plaster cast of the clay skull. Casting was quite a challenge. I would really like to use silicon next time instead of the damned plaster : ).

Some rough quick sketches with water based clay. These were done in order to get a bit faster when blocking shapes with clay.
