Heh, no problem.

Nice stuff, BTW.

Back to my drawing. Can’t be a noob forever. :scream:

#42

CBee,
thanks.

Good luck with your drawing.

raptor|3D,

Sorry I was unable to post yesterday ~ I was completely pooped!! But I saw your work, and I have to say that you have some really beautiful pieces here! Particularly the drawing of the hands ~ your linework is already quite beautiful and sensitive ~ nice work!

I’m happy to see you post zhuzhu’s image also. I agree it’s not finished, but understand your wanting to move on.

Great to see this work! Hope to see more soon.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

Hi Rebecca,
absolutely no problem…

I agree that shading could be better, I just wanted to finish it fast (I finished it at night:)).
I also used softer pencil. I´ve tried 2B pencil out on this piece. Normally I use B. I want to experiment with pencils and materials more. I want to purchase various pencils from i-net store soon and just try them out.

As for the linework, thank you, but I need to practice more.
I like drawings of Sarah Simblet (authoress of the Anatomy for the artist book). Although this book is mainly based on photos, she has some really nice drawings there. She has quite interesting style (rather linework with very, very decent shading). I think I could try something like this from time to time.

Today I´ll be painting my landscape with oils at the art course I attend every Wednesday. This is my great interest - lanscapes, I´ve just started (it´s my first landscape oil painting). I´ll try to do at least some linework when I get back.

#45

Derwent Graphic pencils are good. Make sure you try a couple of them to see if you like em

#46

OK, back from the painting landscape, decided to do something quick. Nothing special and also not 100% accurate, but better then nothing.

I have tried “Sepia dark” chalk pencil.

raptor|3D,

WooHoo! Anatomy Study! Great to see this piece ~ do you plan on shading it?

WooHoo! Anatomy Study!

Yeah, it ain´t called Anatomy Thread for nothing.

do you plan on shading it?

Well, no :). It was ment to be like this. I have tried to achieve something similar like in Sarah Simblet´s drawings in Anatomy for the artist. Well, this is not exactly her style but I would say somewhere close - I mean almost only linework with very decent shading.
I´ll do something “full” shaded next.

I think it´s also time to go through your tutorials like Opposing curves etc. Haven´t time to do so before. Can´t wait to learn new things from them.

#49

I’ve never tried Chalk pencils before. Do you like them more than the graphite variety?

#50

CBee: well, they ain´t bad at all, I´ll use them for some old master copies cause they imitate the master´s mediums quite well. BTW: You have to sharp them frequently when drawing thin lines.
But I like graphite pencils more.

OK, here we go: Raphael´s “A combat of nude men”, work in progress

raptor|3D,

Nice start here! I actually do think going through the Opposing Curves Anatomy Review would help with this piece. You seem to have a natural grasp of the concept, but really being conscious of the principle and capitalizing on it might really help your drawing.

I look forward to seeing this completed!

Cheers,

Hi Raptor
Nice to see that you do some master copies :arteest:so far so good, I like this rendering it looks simple and efective. I will try to do some master copies later now I have to focus on human anatomy… hmmm and Opposing Curves I should check this one too  but anyway kepp going …

Thanx Slux.

I was just adding new character to the image when I found out that there was something wrong with the proportions and pose of the main character. Well I´ve found out that I have to redo whole image, this chalk pencil cannot be completely erased with my kneaded eraser. I also traced the original image to see what´s wrong exactly. What a mistake I had not checked the figure with a pair of compasses before.

Rebecca,
I´ve read your tutorial Opposing curves and I have to say it´s very useful -> excellent . I´m gonna read your Gesture tutorial now.

Well, I really need to focus on the basics now.

#54

raptor|3D,

Hey there, thanks! I’m glad it’s useful! The Opposing Curves was probably the best of the 3 Anatomy Reviews in terms of my own tutorials ~ the Gesture one was the first ~ so keep that in mind.

Cheers,

~Rebeccak

#55

Although my first character wasn´t 100% accurate (some proportions and pose could be better) I decided to finish the piece. So let´s call it “beta version”.

#56

raptor|3D,

Nice! I think you’re really getting the feeling of movement and twist pretty nicely through the use of opposing curves. This is something which you will always want to emphasize! Looking forward to the final!

Cheers,

Hi raptor|3d

really nice drawing especially on the hands and feet, beautifully details there:bowdown: . I do think you have some issues whit the head - there doesn’t seem to be enough mass to the back of her skull, and on her right side (left in the image plane) it looks a bit squashed - I think you need to ad more to her cheekbone and forehead to settle the eye more into the socket, I also think you might see some of her jawbone on that side.

really nice job thou.

#59

Hi Corvax,

Thanks a lot man! Yeah, you are right that the head could be better. As for the heads in general I have to focus on the anatomy of the head and how to capture the physiognomy. I should draw more heads.

I looked at your thread and I have to say you have got beautiful artworks there. Really impressive!

raptor|3D,

This is a stunning drawing ~ the hands in particular are beautifully drawn, though the bit that is so impressive is that the drawing as a whole is consistently strong. The hands, particularly her right hand that is wrapped around her body, has a beautiful sculptural quality which reveals your level of attention to detail. I’m very impressed!

Great work…hope to see more beautiful drawings such as this! :arteest:

Cheers,
