ok, a quick sketch for an ofdw

Hi…Llynna
Nice line…
…you might want to really carve out those armpits, and all the muscles creating them…GREAT START…![]()
TAKE CARE

Hiya Britta,
I think the sternocleidomastoid muscle looks a bit off in your image, but it’s good to see this new pencil sketch! Keep going with these, I think that they will ultimately help your paintings tremendously!

hey everybody some update on the angel
am in a bit of a hurry, so individual replies later
i moved to digital but if its ok i wont move it over to the wip thread.

ok, update time
some head studies, or rather nose studies from the head challenge. i just didnt feel like doing the whole heads somehow… and pencil wouldnt work today, dont know why.

im working on a painting of a character i made up a long time ago alongside with a fantasy world and her story which is not really a happy happy ending one.

and some hands

this little mermaid was bugging me since quite some time, heres the sketch for her, shes lying on the rock and isnt really feelin well.

her environment sketch

I love that concept for the mermaid Britta, so different from the standard look. I think you’re gonna have to be careful with how the rocks* ‘cup’ her, with her lower torso placed like that it’d be very easy for her to slide off.
Funny how the blue lines running up the body seem threatening, and then not seeing how they connect to the face makes it worse – quite cool
*Looks like rocks in the concept, if it’s a beach I’m having trouble reading it
HA, never noticed this thread before.
And there is some very nice artwork in here.
I really like those clean lines and the shading work.
Wanna see your angel finished
Und aus Bochum bist du…dann bist du mir
sowieso sympatisch!

Llynna,
Try if you can to draw the whole head for the Portraits thread, as it actually makes the job of getting proportions right easier.
Really love the hand studies, I think you and Bridgeman really connect.
You always invest a lot of good emotion into your drawings, and I think that once you start to really master the tricks of getting form to read, as with your Bridgeman studies, your work will really have a great impact.
Cheers,

some last updates for today, im tired now.
ok heres the finished lineart of a cd cover im doing for a friend of mine whos got an industrial band. im fond of the lineart but not of the try in coloring it in analog things. the paper broke on me halfway, its really sensitive about pressure… its my first time working with that kind ov grainy tinted paper, so i will just keep experimenting with it.

and the coloring, but ive got the feeling that i screwed up, so i think i will do it digitally…

oh yea and the digital piece that im workin on.

by the way, no reference used for both pics, despite my old cam to get the perspektive of the mask.
@kary: yea its rocks no sand, and youre right about her sliding, thats a big problem and i aimed for a different look, not this beautiful innocent mermaid kinda thing…
@becca: yes teach, i will be a good girl and draw whole heads next time, maybe just think of it as a nose excercise.
@abyss: hey thanks^^. as long as you dont begin to sing… bochum ich komm aus dir, all is going well
Llynna,
LOL, nose exercise it is, then.
I think your drawings / paintings are becoming a lot stronger / more confident ~ certainly your linework seems less hesitant and searching, that’s a good sign.
Looking forward to seeing you developing these pieces, I think you do best where there is a clearly defined goal for a piece, such as the work that you are doing for your friend.
Cheers,
~Rebeccak
thanks becca
that does mean a lot to me
ok first of all its 6:30 am, im dead tired on red bull and adrenalin, so dont mind if my writings kinda weird.
after doing some doodling with charcoal today i began paintin digital again at like 3 o clock in the night and i think i made ssome massive breakthrough. hah i got like an adrenaline shock from painting and i realized what is boring myself in all my wips. they were all lacking some point of me, and where just reproductions of thoughts of others somehow. difficult to explain… anyway ive been practising skin tones the last few days and been thinking about some approaches on digital painting and smoothing cause i always tended to desaturate all colors while smoothing, so they lost all vibrancy and got greyish.
ok to cut long things short, after much thinking and more experimenting i came to this update of ice queen. i mean it was kinda boring before, ok blue is associated with ice, but why, i mean all kinda ice fairies or such are always painted the same, kinda white to blueish… so all kinda alike. that bored me… im trying to go for an icy look even with implimenting warm colors, get good complimentary contrasts to enhance the feeling and by doing that getting the focal point of the painting enhanced not only by the composition but also through terms of color use.

ps: excuse my many typing errors and weird sentences this early morning/late night
you seem to have a nack for very nice poses of characters, look foward to seeing more of your stuff britta
some little sketches from the last few days, got more in my sketchbook but somehow my scanner doesnt love me today.

some skintone practises

some doodling
the black knight approaches, beware of crossing gooses

an older one i found but love dearly

Llynna,
I think your stuff is looking great ~ I think you’re the kind of person who would really bloom if you took some live figure drawing classes.
Would love to see some charcoal pencil drawings from you ~ you ought to check out the Gesture DVD from Vilppu. Razz has some lovely Vilppu studies on his thread:
Cheers,

i know im a bad person… no update in such a long time but it was way to hot for drawing here…
i began this drawing yesterday evening as a life drawing sketch of a friend of mine in my bound sketchbook. took that as reference for the new drawing on good paper and must admit its so much fun doing portriats and stuff with pencil. so far its hmmm 6 hours work or so.

cheers!
Your progress is fantastically quick…the last one is the best so far IMHO. ‘You got skills with that pencil, lady!’
awww thanks hon
here is my progress for this night, especially for you^^
today i planned a while series of portraits of my friends in that manner for my new room
so stay tuned for around 10 more portraits to come

Well, yay, that’s a bit twisted, I like it!
Nice pencil work. Makes me want to…
