yay okay here i go … my first sketchbook

so …!? erm!? Okay something about me … i’m a noob ! that’s all  But your stuff here rocks and i hope i can lear EVERYTHING you guys know.

I just started modeling so i’m not good at this (as you will see later) i use 3DS Max, i tried MudBox but it does NOT run yet with WinXP 64bit -.-’

okay one last word about my work … i start with chests and later try the rest of a body.

and finally here we go… and PLEASE ! Post ANY critique you have! Things i made wrong! things i made right ( if there are  )! Feel free to write comments ! thank you!

this is my first try … the abdominal muscle look strange … the rest !? ah?! it’s a first try >^.^<
ah right … bellybuttons WTH?! o.0 they are to difficult atm :wink:skip

heres a low poly wireframe of the front… as you can see the wire at the belly part is VERY chaotic! Couldn’t find wireframe reference! PLEASE HELP and tell me how this works!? o.0

left side … yes … doesn’t look bad ! Can live with that:

and the backside! … i know pretty low detail at the scapulas but i did this before i studied the whole day CGTalk and searched for references. But i think the butt looks nice !? o.0

okay so far the work from 07/03/19th

okay next chest, next post!

07/03/22.-23.

okay i started a new one! I think NOW you can see some progess! i think i did finally some things right (after hours of tweaking). But still that problem with the belly >.< I don’t get it! But this time a tried another wire and a belly with less abdominal muscles. Here it is.

and the low poly wire. Belly is STILL chaotic. Don’t know how the wire would look correct :-/

left side again. I think the butt is not as good as the first one ! but i’m not sure whether the first one looks female (becuase it’s pretty ‘round’!? o.0

and the back … i think there is a lot of progess to see espacially the scapulas are better?!

okay, so far! Tell me if anything is missing!

pls post your comments and correct my work!

THANKS!

Cxyda,

Welcome aboard.

One thing I think you will find tremendously useful are the free downloads from the freedomofteach site:

http://www.freedom-of-teach.com/main.php?sect=downloads&pid=index

The first download, for the ‘Organic Modeling 1 DVD - Human Anatomy: Maya’, contains front, side, and rear ecorche reference which you can use as image planes when modeling. They also make great reference, period.

I encourage you also to draw and paint. It will really help you to see form, which is the problem I think you are having more so than the modeling per se.

Check out the other 3D threads here, such as those of anandpg, Intervain, Thomasphoenix, claybub, Womball, Zapan, Gunilla and others.

Do you have any anatomy books? Check out the Reference thread in the Reference sub forum here. There are plenty of resources to get you started. You may also find the FORUM PRIMER as a useful starting point to find useful information on the Anatomy Forum. I look forward to seeing your updates!

Cheers,

-Rebeccak

… okay … much stuff you gave me in your first post ! THANKS FOR THAT ! i’ll check everything

yes i have anatomy books ! But as you can see i’m at the very beginning and it’s hard for me at this point to adopt knowledge from 2D sketchbooks to my 3D work ! But i’m on it and get it very soon  (hope so ^^)

i used sketches for those models, but i hided them! I’m still petty bad at skatching on my own by i try very hard.

thanks for your advice!

Yeah, that “forum primer” is very usefull. Though I had a little problem with colouring or “texturing”, i looked it up there, but i thought it was to hard to understand. Hopefully I’ll learn that here, but maybe you already know how to colour stuff?

Keep it up, i think muscle study is pretty neat.
