Anatomy Thread of Anand - 2D/3D

Can’t wait to see her textured

LOL, this time you are sitting pretty much on the opposite pole of my view, Serena…:scream:

#562

Dehehehheeh ! I know I think I’m understanding your “taste”. To reply to your question, yes mostly of the ancient greek statues and also monuments were painted but time and rain (and humans too) erased the beautiful colors over their surfaces.
I’m asking for a textured version cause I would like to see this sculpture at ballistic’ books PLUS a whole tutorial on a magazine.

#563

Guys, you know what?.. I discovered something yesterday… I gotta let you know… I CANT TEXTURE!!!

I spent the whole of my precious Saturday trying to paint the granny’s face, and the result is not even worth showing!.. I dont know what to do… I think I will let it rest for now and pass on to something else.

btw, thanks for crit, Serena!!.. I will definitely do that when I come back to this.

Hey Mu!!.. I am not much for texturing either, but texturing is something I still need to learn… thought I would learn it on this one, but now I am having my doubts!

Hey!! thanks Sunny and Nitin!

#564

Hey Anand,

I’m sure back in the days when you were learning to model, you must have had difficult moments as well… but you still made it to an incredible skilled modeler/sculptor

Whatever you do, don’t give up :buttrock:
I second Serena’s comment… Your work definetely belongs in one of them Ballistic books

#565

Does it help you?

http://www.zbrushcentral.com/zbc/showthread.php?t=14301

I want her with textures. :frowning:

#566

Hi…Anand…

I like that foot showing …gives her wieght and ballance…
I also really like the cloth running over her fingers…GREAT LOOK…:applause:
Not knowing anything myself about turning her into a 3d photo realistic model, I think i’ll stay out of that one…:scream:
But as MR MU said earlier, …she lookes great as a sculpture…
Besides, just because you can or cannot do something, doesn’t mean that doing it will improve what looks good already…just my personal opinion there though…:)…I guess it all depends on what your personal needs and goals are concerning your work.
ANYWAY,…KEEP INSPIRED, AND KEEP INSPIRING…THAT IS WHAT COUNTS ABOVE ALL ELSE IN THE END…
TAKE CARE
Glenn

#567

Hey Johan!.. thanks, buddy!.. I will surely complete it… but my mind is not yet prepared for a laborious texture job!!.. it needs rest and contemplation after the sari sculpting!!

Thanks, Serena!!.. I have bookmarked it for later use.

Thanks for the support and the kind words as always, Glenn!!

Ok… I will show you guys what I have been doing this past week… Been working on my old “Birth of Bheeshma” sculpture… added the male character(the desperate King) and worked a bit on the poses of Ganga and the child. I need some harsh and hardcore critiques on this, preferably with paint-overs!!:bounce:

#568

btw, I have uploaded a male and a female base mash(obj) for anybody who might want to try sculpting on them… remember to give me feedback!!
download basemesh here

#569

Well I think the King’s legs are too long if compared to his torso + head proportions. Plus they are a little bit thin if related to the tonic-muscles he gots on the torso (but of course I don’t know in which stage you are with them ^_^)

Talking about the child, why not shifting his right arm more toward his mum? See as example the first image of your previous post…don’t you think that arms are a little bit too parallel? Is this a “studied” thing?

No…man… no… put down the “cat of nine tails” :scream:

#570

awsome sculpts man!

:buttrock:

take care!
cya!

#571

hi ! nice work !!

#572

Hm, the eyes seem a bit big. Stylized? And maybe you should add some asymmetry in their facial expressions? Would make them look less ‘stiff’ (animators point of view)… But the expression is stylized too I guess? Don’t know that much about Indian cultural history myself …
Other than that, bravo bravissimo! Beautiful work!! :bounce:

#573

Hey Serena!!.. thanks a lot!.. your comments are accurate, as always!!.. No “cat o’ nine tails” for you!!.. you will have to settle for just “Grazie Mille” and a Bouquet of flowers!! :scream:

Hey Rafael!! Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot, Dhame!!

Hey Vaaken… Thanks a lot for the critiques!.. Still experimenting… will remember what you said!

Been Sculpting the baby the last half an hour(subdivided once)… felt something inside me (maybe the old sentimental fool) cry with the baby… so, posted on an impulse…

#574

Hey Anand, that baby is indeed in a very uncomfortable position… if I would see this in real life I would be totally shocked (I have 3 kids myself)

I guess it’s part of the story huh

If the woman is breastfeeding the baby (not now but in general) her breasts will not look this “perfect”

#575

Hi there Anand!

Trying to point out some things…about the last sculpture. I somehow get the feeling the whole picture is going to fall over to the right side, I know he’s in motion but still somehow everything is thrown out of balance. Try mirroring and you may see it.
I also think his feet should be larger, but may just be perspective if it’s turned on  The woman is pretty much fine at this stage, ignoring the balance “issue”. The baby is turning out great , nice expression, maybe a bit more “squinting” of the eyes… but it may be too early for that!

Great stuff you’ve got back there in your thread, I enjoy looking at it.

Keep Zbrushing!

-ivan

#576

Hey Johan!! thanks for the inputs!!.. still a long way to go!!

Hey Ivan!.. thanks!!.. I will definitely look into those issues!..

Tiny update on the baby… experimenting with expression…

#577

oh wow! just noticed the updates… the king and ganga sculpt is superb :buttrock:
Only crits i feel is that the baby’s face looks much older than it should be… the crying expression is good but i think the eye area is making the baby look a bit older than it should be… also i feel that fold near the neck area is bit exaggerated… i may be wrong, i must do some research too

#578

If/When I begin studying ZBrush, this is where I’ll be camping out for lessons. You are a fantastic modeler and have set the bar very high.

#579

Hey Nitin!! thanks, man! you are right!!!

Hey Esmeralda!! Thanks for gracing my thread!!! You are a great inspiration to me, and those words, coming from you, mean a lot!!

Update: Worked a bit on the baby’s ears… and still wondering about the expression…

I dont think I can go any further on this piece without working on my drawing, which is right now rusting in a corner… We have a long weekend here starting tomorrow, so I plan to sketch through most of it!!

#580

It’s been to long since I’ve had a chance to go through your thread, I’ve missed the development of a lot of great stuff. The latest piece looks great to me so far as well, I don’t really have the anatomy skills to comment on most of it, but I am wondering a bit about the ear.

This is more what I think of with a baby’s ear (at two months). It seems a little softer then where your’s is and also a little more ‘crowded’ if you will. Better image here, that is to big to link inline.

Wonderful work over the last few months. This piece is already heading in a good direction, and you’ve done a great job capturing the baby’s expression – you can already practically hear the wail :).
