Hey Glenn!! thanks a lot for the suggestions!.. I will keep them in mind as I go along…
As for the book, here is the link:
http://www.ballisticpublishing.com/books/essence/face/
It covers a bit of face-modeling, but mostly realistic skin-texturing. I have never tried any serious skin-shading, so I am hoping it will help me pickup a bit of something.

Hi Sophie! thanks for stopping by!

Hey Magdalena!!.. thanks!.. yes, the figure is still a bit youthful… I will work on aging it…!

Hey Ashish!!.. thanks, dude!!

Beautiful! Anand you make me want to take classes in sculpting. Love the hand and how it is holding the cloth. The veins in the hand are amazing. I like both sari versions but I think the version with less folds looks just right on her somehow. Just my thought. Lovely work Anand!

#547

Hey Debbie!! thanks a lot!! The Sari is kind of “evloving”… dont know what it will turn into finally!!

update… a bit more work on the sari tonight…

Hey Glenn! thanks!!

Hi Vaaken… thank you!

Hey Kiran!.. thanks, man!!

Thanks a lot, Vinay!

Hi Dhame! thanks!!

Thanks Nitin!!

Ok, now… I haven’t been updating because it was going a bit slow and I was getting stuck with the sari… Anyways, I have put the sari to rest for now and started refining the other parts… nothing major, though.

  1. Added a foot, like Glenn said.
  2. Corrected the gesture on the right hand… thanks a lot for pointing it out, Nitin!!:scream:(The left hand is still a mess!!)
  3. Not noticabe, but added tear-ducts(or whatever they really are)to the inner corner of the eyes.

…cont. on the next post…

I confess - I am guilty of not replying in here often enough. Because your thread is giving me the pleasure of a minute of awe and wonder on a daily basis.

The gesture, pose and detail plus the choice of subject: everything propels this out of range of 99% of what I can see in 3D sculpting on the web and brings this quite on par with the kind of sculptures in museums by the old masters that hit me on the head, stop my breath and make me explore them.

Also, another reminder that texturing is kind of unneccessary for the beauty of a good sculpture. Sure, there’s a shader and all - what I am referring to is the desire for real skin textures and subsurface scattering and what not. The absence of these things makes this style of sculpting quite a timeless achievement (I think I remember that many of the classical statues from the ancient greek and romans used to be painted, i.e., textured, though? Don’t know…)

anyway. thanks for giving me the joy to watch this every once in a while.

I think that in this view the sari folders are a little bit too patterning. If you have got time, try to create here and there few breaks in the size of the folds. I think that in this way it will acquire a more natural look.

Hand and foot are mindblowing (as usual) you really are a maestro in sculpting

Can’t wait to see her textured
