Anatomy Lesson Series: Body Part 1 - The Head

#81

Wow everyone’s looks amazing so far!! This is /great/ Rebecca, what fun!

I did this using the grid system – maybe a goal for me is the last 5 heaeds (45-50) I will do without a grid just for fun!

I had to stop, otherwise I’d render til the cows come home.

Oh yeah, I’m also going to use a different blender brush for each one - just to see

Another one - these are both probably 90 minutes to two hours work - I am not keeping track… just having a total blast.

This next one was actually 100% working size – since I use a grid system I was too lazy to blow up the original.

I have to stop these at some point, or else I run the risk of spending 9+ hours on each one, and I’ll never get a single thing done in my house. Sorry if they are messy :frowning: I just am trying to get the skin colors by eyeballing and the face shape 95% right - I know there are minor errors, I’m sorry!

Although a huge amount of work here with my short yet… lol

You just got me with this one… I´ve been drawing everyday at least 30 mins to 1hr… and twice a week live model class, so why not 50 heads in a month ! :scream:

Will do my best, thanks for the opportunity !
Best wishes to all !

This is a great excercise. Most things I do, I like the details and it takes a long time. This is getting in some quick reps. Here’s two for today. Took me about an hour and 1/2. The girls face is real messed up. I won’t be using a grid for these. I usually do.

Everone might have heard this, but… There’s a story about a pottery class. It was the final exam for pottery class and the instructor gave half the class the assignment to make just one great pot using all the skill they had learned in that class. They would be judged on quality. The other half’s assignment was to make as many pots as they could in that final week. They would be judged on quantity.

On the final day the best pots were made not by the students going for quality, but by those that went for quantity. Because they had gained more experience through the test than those trying to make just one pot.

I need to remember that. So I thought I would share.

Awesome thread. I am on board. This will push me to get faster and better with painter and work on organic stuff

#96

Hi, what works for me (concerning the shading) is holding my pencil quite horizontal, so the side of the tip of the pencil is in line with my paper - using very light pressure and increasing pressure where needed as I go.
Hope this helps

#97

This is my rendering of #100. It took me just around two hours and had fun doing it. I don’t know if I can do a head a day for a month because of my work schedule, but I’ll give it a shot.

#98

ok here is my first shot. it is #86 Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. I have never tried to model a person from a single reference photo… very challenging. I hope to learn a lot from this experience. I saw this thread this morning and had to try its 2 am now. but I cant resist starting a new head… I would love to hear some crits.

all modeling done in Maya

Ok

Well, i’m slightly terrifies in taking part in this challenge, but thats all the more reason to do it i guess. There’s already a great selection of work on here, too much to individually comment but all in all some great work. I’m gonna have a go with this one…wish me luck!
this is number 95. it was done with penicl and markers.
