[left]Hi everyone,

Tremendous work here, not long to go before the end of one month!

Well, yesterday for the first time in a really long time, I decided to do some oil painting. Lol, I produced a pretty terrible oil painting (which I won’t show, since it’s horrid and unfinished) but I thought I’d post some shots of my setup for anyone interested ~ I had more fun than anything else, and it was good to touch real canvas again.

Since I don’t have a printer (this saves me a few hundred dollars a year, I’m convinced) I had to go with a reference from a cheap art book I bought to use for the express point of desecration. I’ll add the Reference to the beginning of the thread and here for others to use if they like.

Reference used

Here’s the basic setup ~ the canvas on the easel is what I painted over. On the right is my makeshift taboret which I bought not from an art company but a generic warehouse supply store online (I don’t remember what it was frankly but it was cheaper than a real taboret, and much more durable. It has wheels so can be easily moved around).

[left]My oil painting actually turned out pretty horridly, so I’ll be working on that more today. In the meantime, here is my digitally reworked version:

Here’s another attempt on painting in Phothoshop…but still struggling…

Study of Head #080

Rebeccak - I’m with you on the oil paintings…haven’t done it in years…and probably won’t either LOL. I never understood them…The back study in the canvas from your picture looks great.

#897

For anyone interested, I’ve posted the Reference I’ve used for the last portrait to the beginning of the thread as link 101 and also you can find it [b]here.

Only had time for a few thumbnails today more tomorrow

Kudo’s to everyone

BTW I think doing thumbnails of all one hundred head and just thinking about basic form and planes would be a great exercise <> once again when you really start to break this stuff down you realize how great these dudes are…
