Hey all ^^

Sorry for no commenting. I have been really busy this days =(
In fact, this is my last head for at least 2 weeks. This is almost a “count me out” post =(

Hi everyone,

Amazing stuff!

AOAH, that style is very cool! Makes me want to do some oil painting again.

jabzz, don’t worry! The more you do, the better you will get ~ it’s just a matter of time and practice!

SulaMoon, sorry to hear you will be leaving us ~ but this thread will more or less remain open indefinitely ~ please feel free to post here when you can. You’ve done some great work here, it’s been great to have your participation!

Hello everyone!

I thought I’d give it a try to do a digital painting in Photoshop… since I’m more used to drawing in pencil. It was a nice change of pace for me, but man, some people here make it seem sooo easy! Encredibly inspiring to see Zhuzhu stuff. But overall all the digital stuff is amazing!

I also have couple of question in terms of good brush seetings…

I used the standard brush with the opacity jitter set to pen pressure…is that a good way to paint? or should I use standard opacity setting on the layer modes? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also not to mention feel free to comment on the art piece itself or techniques that might help.

This is a study from Head #086

Hi all! I’m joining you all started today. you guys are really talented. Some of you really made the painting seems so easy, like Jafran17 said. That’s very amazing! But for me it is quite hard, I just started to learn sketching & painting recently. I spent whole day long for this head using tablet in photoshop, but still get thing done wrong. I tried two version of mouth but still look bad. and the pose look totally different from the original pics. =.=

Any advance comments & critiques are very welcome, and feel free to draw on my pics to show me how to do them right, technical/painting or whatever for a beginner to take note.

Thank you in advance.

I’ll move on to the 2nd head now… and back to head 1 later to revise.

have nice day!

Tecsun, I think your values are off as compared to the reference (there were a lot more highlighted areas in the original than you have in yours). Nice volume nonetheless.
Andyonahill, simply awesome.
Mal-1, love the looseness of that.
sulamoon, damn that looks like you spent a lot of time on it. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m entering the fray finally. Here’s a quickish study of the first head. She’s a little thin, and I think I got lazy around the eye area.

#868

A couple more from work. This has been so great getting me to draw everyday.

#869

Took too much time off (vacation and whatnot) but I’ve posted five more for today. Hopefully, I’ll get my crap together and post more and better quality (at least by my standards) tomorrow:)

(rather than clutter, I’m just posting links to the other four)

One more for good luck:

200% Detail

xiannc <> couple of nice ones <> interesting linework

LotekK <> that is a tough one an you have done a nice job with it

tecsun <> same story tough image <> take a look at the eyes on yours and visualize them wrapping aroung a cylinder a little more <> they seem a little flat.

JaFran17 <> good painterly study

Rebeccak <> super <> love the weight of the tilt of the head

Sulamoon <> knocking them dead <> beautiful works

Intervain <> another good one <> would love to see some harder edges at the focal point…

Dim <> good loose painterly style <> I for one love to see the strokes <> love Al

Mal-1 <> ain’t nobody close <> slow down I feel like i am walking backwards LOL

Tecsun,

as a fellow beginner I can strongly recommend starting your own anatomy thread, if you haven’t already.
Just to convince you, I have made more progress since this thread started a couple of weeks ago, than since I first started drawing 7months ago.

Rebecca has put a nice link in this thread already a couple of times but as it moves so quickly here it is once more

http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=341167

now GOGOGO!

EDIT: it’s also recommended to browse other people’s anatomy threads: BNN, aLoneCuzzo, Mr MU, Thomasphoenix to name a few that really helped me. But don’t limit yourself to just these threads, check all of them if you can  They are a goldmine of information and you won’t regret reading them through from first post on for a single second. That’s a promise!!
