Thanks Rebecca, Im almost all digital. So whe I do the Vilppus dvds I do them on my computer and draw on the other monitor. Fortunaltey, My work offers inhouse figure drawing every tuesday. I’m really looking forward to that. We will see how it goes :slight_smile:

That last one is great, very solid communication on the foreshortening.

I really like this earlier one (http://people.uleth.ca/%7Eandrew.melnychukosee/gestures/g_0157.JPG), it’s a quick one but the energy in the hair and the ‘graphical’ aspect looks great.

Grats on the Bioware job, it sounds like a great place. Very cool that they do a weekly live model session – nothing seems to really replace working from a live model. :slight_smile:

Damn its been awhile

Hey rebecca,
WIth these pictures i always think to myself, crap i should take this all the way. I never do. I usually do some of these in the evenings then go to bed. I’m working on one that I plan to take the distance right now. Something I can submit to like the expose or something. Like a couple of months on a piece.

thx for the comments man, I’m still learning of course. And your tottaly right nothing replaces live figure drawing. A couple of friends that go to the figure drawing in the evenings got it up going twice a week. I wanna have a contract from Marvel for Ultimate Fantastic Four before I’m 24 so I got a looooooong way to go.

O yea, if you guys know of a good refrence site of www.domai.com quality but for men, I’m all ears. I dont wanna be able to just draw women… Well…I do… but… gotta keep the skills balanced.

good studies, good use of opposing curves. keep it up, some really nice ones. for example 180. keep working on your line-quality. 182…impressive count!

I really think that you will learn more about the figure from doing Master Copies than from painting pin-up girls. :wink: While pretty, models aren’t always the best people to draw. I really hope you can join in the ongoing Workshop, which I think you’d really enjoy:

Hi Andrew, it’s really interesting to see your progression through this thread, your work is starting to pay off. The masters thing is definitely a good idea… i hadn’t really considerd it until I thought if I were a sculptor, would I rather learn from the Michael Angelos, or the reproduction garden statues that any guy throws out? No contest really! These masters know their stuff about the figure, and colour, and edges. I’ve not done too many, but I learn so much every time I do. Those last two studies you’ve done are definitely along the right path… I really like the combination of line and tone in the first one.
