Hello, I’m currently looking to enroll into my local community college into the CIDG (Computer Integrated Design and Graphics) program.
My question is, would a digital animation artist certificate help me with obtaining a job in the video game design field? Also, what would better help me land a career in that field?
An important question concerning courses and certifications.
Well no, the piece of paper will make no difference. What gets you a job is your reel, demonstrating your work.
As Leigh said your reel is what demonstrates your work. Besides helping you develop skills to show in your reel, I believe that one benefit that any school should provide is that of networking. Your school should have industry connections so that you can get your foot in the door so to speak and show your reel. You might want to visit with the head of the program at your community college and ask about their industry connections and what their recent graduates are doing. Maybe their connections are in a field like website design, which might not help you very much in finding something in game design when you are finished with your degree or certification.
Good Luck.
