An accessible setup to run sculpting.

#1

If you wanted to get started into sculpting that is, programs like Zbrush, Mudbox and even the Sculpting available within C4D would this be a good setup?

Intel Core i7 4790 Quad-Core 3.6GHz
Single 2GB NVIDIA GTX 750Ti
16GB Ram powered by HyperX 1600Mhz (2x8GB)
2TB Seagate Solid State Hybrid Drive

Already assembled this setup is in the 1500$ mark.

Plz share your opinion

Thanks!!

For ZBrush it’s great for sure, other programs that make use of the gfx card may find 750 not to be the best, but hey I’m on a radeon HD 7850 and I’m more than happy with it for cinema 4D.

so maybe invest a bit more and go from that gtx 750 Ti to a gtx 760, I am following this chart http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html and the gtx 760 is not doing so bad.

Thanks for your time!!

Edit: Funny thing your Radeon card you mentioned is right above the 750 Ti I intend to get, I assume yours is also 2GB. I might invest in Improving the gfx card cause at the end I will end up not using this setup for Sculpting only but for everything else 3D related and even Photoshop and Video Editing.

ZBrush doesn’t use the videocard, at all. Mudbox is heavily reliant on it, particularly the amount of memory.
Budget and pick accordingly, and bear in mind your videocard will have literally no impact whatsoever on ZB, and various mark benchmarks (passmark, 3dmark etc) don’t come even remotely close to weighing properly what constitutes value for mudbox.
