SENIOR/LEAD LEVEL DESIGNER:

The America’s Army Development Team is looking for a motivated and experienced Senior or Lead Level Designer to join our team in Emeryville, California. This role requires published level creation experience with UnrealEd or equivalent tools, The Senior/Lead Level Designer may be called upon to manage, supervise, and guide other team members as well as evaluate their performance throughout the life of the project.

This position absolutely requires experience designing and completing levels, though that experience need not be commercial. Must be comfortable designing levels both from the ground up utilizing reference photography, conducting field research and working from a detailed design document.

This position will entail 3D world creation using the Unreal Engine 3 technology for Windows PC. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills plus the ability to discuss technical issues with both programmers and non-technical people such as producers, artists, and designers are a must.Samples of your work should be submitted along with a resume and cover letter. Please include a breakdown for each level that describes what you did (layout, modeling, textures, lighting, triggers, etc.).

Job Duties:

·[font=&quot] [/font]Work closely with lead designer to ensure project vision is realized.

·[font=&quot] [/font]Create highly diverse, interactive levels in UnrealEd (for UE3 specifically).

·[font=&quot] [/font]Conduct research to obtain visual references.

·[font=&quot] [/font]Create visual representations of environments using combination of environment sketches, floorplans, and game flow using pencil and paper and/or Photoshop/Visio/Illustrator, etc…

·[font=&quot] [/font]Ensure level design team adheres to established design and development processes.

·[font=&quot] [/font]Write clear and thorough level design documentation to describe environments and inherent functionality.

·[font=&quot] [/font]Conduct periodic level design reviews with leads to discuss progress and refine development process.

·[font=&quot] [/font]Coordinate w/ producers, artists and programmers to create code/content assets in support of level design.

·[font=&quot] [/font]Provide daily, ongoing leadership and oversight of level design team in order ensure consistency in level creation.

·[font=&quot] [/font]Ability to provide accurate time estimates and work within schedule deadlines is critical

·[font=&quot] [/font]Coordinate and lead playtests of levels at various stages of development

·[font=&quot] [/font]Direct level design team in defect resolution during key QA phases.

Qualifications:

[ul]
[li]5+ years game industry experience (or comparable experience)
[/li][li]Must have shipped at least one PC/Console title either professionally or published levels via mod community.
[/li][li]Playable level portfolio
[/li][li]Solid understanding of artistic concepts (value, color, composition)
[/li][li]Experience with animation, particle effect systems and/or 3D modeling/texturing a big plus
[/li][li]Strong understanding of lighting and how to apply it in a realistic game world setting.
[/li][li]Experience with at least one of the following: Photoshop, Visio, Illustrator, Flash, MindManager and/or SketchUp.Must be a self-starter and be able to work autonomously on tasks
[/li][li]An avid gamer with a passion for creating great games. Detailed knowledge of AA or similar games a plus.
