NETWORK/TOOLS PROGRAMMER:
The America’s Army Development Team is looking for a talented network programmer to join our team in Emeryville, California. As an expert in network software development, this role entails development and maintenance of a distributed network game architecture for both existing and emerging server technology for the next major version of America’s Army. The Network/Tools Programmer will coordinate with producers, designers, artists and programmers to create a suite of powerful support tools for all disciplines, including both local workstations and server environments.
This position will entail client and/or network application development using the Unreal Engine 3 technology for Windows PC and Next-Gen consoles. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills plus the ability to discuss technical issues with both programmers and non-technical people such as producers, artists and designers are a must.
Job Duties:

[li]Design, implement and maintain code and applications for a client-server-database architecture for a cross-platform multiplayer online game.
[/li][li]Create thorough documentation for all aspects of game play and data transmission/aggregation.
[/li][li]Work with external partners and hosting facilities to support the maintenance and growth of the game.
[/li][li]Create tools and applications to extend Unreal Engine 3/Unreal Editor functionality in order to improve developer productivity and enable real-time debugging.
[/li][li]Ensure the client-server-database communication model is robust and cost-effective and provides developers with means to track and review player and game information in real-time.

Qualifications:
[ul]
[li]4+ years professional programming experience
[/li][li]1+ years game programming experience
[/li][li]Solid understanding of Unreal 2.x or 3.0 game engine
[/li][li]Expert knowledge in C++ as well as an ability to create or maintain applications written in SQL, PHP, XML, Perl, streaming media and other related Internet technologies.
[/li][li]Have an expertise in client/server application development and network security;
[/li][li]Extensive knowledge and experience with TCP/IP, UDP, and/or Unreal networking protocols
[/li][li]Experience integrating, debugging and problem solving third-party SDK’s.
[/li][li]Ability to develop automated testing tools in support of QA team.
[/li][li]Experienced with MS VS .Net 2003, MFC
[/li][li]Must be able to write clear and easily maintainable code
[/li][li]Ability to provide accurate time estimates and work within schedule deadlines is critical.
[/li][li]Good debugging and problem solving skills
[/li][li]Solid written and oral communication skills
[/li][li]Must be able to work with QA personnel to resolve technical issues
[/li][li]Ability to learn new skills rapidly and apply them in support of project goals.
[/li][li]Experience with MS VS .Net 2003, MFC a plus
[/li][li]Knowledge of Direct3D and/or Linux C++ programming a plus
[/li][li]Must be a self-starter and be able to work autonomously on tasks
[/li][li]B.S. degree in Computer Science, Math, Physics, or Engineering preferred.
[/li][li]An avid gamer with a passion for creating great games. Detailed knowledge of AA or similar games a plus.
