Alien/Mechrobot Modeling Workflow

Hey guys!

my name is Ken and I am new to this forum & overall to learning cg techniques!

I am currently working on a short movie project with some of my fellow mates. We filmed in August and now its time for Post Production. We want to integrate a mix out of an alien and a mechrobot with matchmoving.

We still have a lot time to do this movie. Now my question… Our alien will be half organic and half out of metal or smth. like that… would it be a good choice to sculpt the body in Zbrush and then import it (how?) into 3ds max and then model there the armor, the guns, the helmet and so on and put it on to it? I just want to do my first project in a professional way - so I can learn the workflow for my future projects!
