Alien 2 - Model

Hey everyone, I saw the second alien and though it looked awesome so I m having a go at modelling it. I only started today so still got heaps of work left. Hope noone minds me having a go. Let me kow what you think. Oh, colours are just to try and show the model a bit better.

the geo looks good, but the face is not looking like the original concept, … just needs lil tweaks …
i keep my eyes on this.

Just a little update. I haven’t done much work on the face but I have done the hands and boots. Jet me know what you think. once again, colours are just for show. C&C please.

:thumbsup: The general shape and form of the character is very good! Don’t change it.

Short boots and long sleeves are varied from the concept, but it still looks good. No need to change it.

No real critiques until you have more of the details worked out. Keep going :wip:

I am basing this on the scetch where he is lifting the crate and has the “elvis head in a jar” on the back of his suit. Really love that jacket art:D. I will add the leg gear soon.

just a little update. Added some details

Made a few changes to the character. A little to the body shape to give it a rounder effect and a little to hte face and decals. Just looking for comments and criticism right now, let me know what you think.

According to Alien#2_Concept #5:

. mouth should be upper, a little.
. head should be semi-cone shape from front view.
. body (stomach) must be a little wider & bigger.
. thigh might be a liitle thiner
. actually he has not sleeves, arms are bare.
. legs from the knee pad to down should be bigger (thicker)
. tentacles are stright, but maybe this is not an issue.
. as I said before, I had problem with eyes, but can’t say anything till I examine them in a close shot, they just look wrong.

I think it’s that the eyes are too big and that they don’t look like proper spheres?

If you put the sketch of the alien sitting down beside the render you will also see the toe of the boot is out of proportion. It has to be squashed down and widened. The calf part of the boot needs to be beefed out. The knee pad also has to be made bigger and moved down slightly. This will bulk out the legs and make them not seem as long.

Ok, I’ll start playing by the rules:D

I’ve started making him look more like the concept. I haven’t addressed all the issues. The eyes are now spherical and modelled shut. What do you think now?

Ouch! What happened to his legs? Go back to your second post and start again from there. He’s loosing the shape the more you work on it. I hope you save your progress under different file names …

Yeah, they are a abit thin. Unfortunately, I don’t think I kept a version that far back so I’ll have to make them again. Any more crits? Hows the arms and general body shape?

your effort on this character is going well. I like it, but that’s not like the concept, YET.
I wonder which concept you are working on! there are a few concepts for alien#2 that differ in some areas like legs. :wink: I personally prefer concept #5, let me put it here, you would place it in your last updating post, that is a good idea. :smiley:

Kirt, please make the concept threads unique & stick it on the top! :slight_smile:

i have to agree here… it has become quite confusing. i for myself dont know what you want the hero to be like…

at first theres a concept that got changed and then in the thread of blue cugar you re posting the old concept as a reference?

i dont want to offend you kirt, but if you dont know which one to be modelled you should tell us i think :slight_smile: for my hero modell i refered to the more stylised one (the newer one :D)… maybe you changed your mind and want the old one to become the modell… just tell me! :slight_smile:

im quite confused and i dont like the fact you havent made a statement on my model… just wanna be honest and not offensive… hope its “takeable”

Ok, I think I’m on the right track now. Got most of his accessories in there now. What do you think, better? heading in the right direction?

yes, me too, fingers should be shorter , also the palm be biger & fater.

Heres hte next round of updates. a few changes to the whole model (added teeth, gums and upper leg bands) and did some work on the hands. C&C please.
