This is the aircraft i finished today. It is a Hawker Demon, a 2-seat fighter in use by the British RAF in the 1930’s.
3D work was done in Lightwave, textures were painted in Photoshop.
I would like to hear your comments.

if you soft the edges a bit (using a 2d app) no one can tell if it is 3d or not.
Nice
Hellas is the EURO2004 winner !!!
Outstanding!! details, textures, modelling, … everything is exceptional!
Could you show some wires please?
Keep up the good work ![]()
Great modeling, great texturing.
The amount of details is just amazing.
Want to see this in an environment.
:buttrock:
My only crit is that the material of the spinner(?) and the propeller looks strange.
Thanks to all for your responses!
I will put it in environment sooner or later(it will be later i think), for the moment i have other projects waiting.
Here is the wireframe for Guillermo:

Good to see you finished this model! It’s LOVELY!
Very nice choice of subject too.
I do have a few crits though. The textures to me are a bit of an uneasy mix between photos, hand-painted and pre-baked reflections. I guess with a photo background and realistic lighting they will look fantastic, but in these plain renders they give a bit of a weird feel to the model. Some bits look photoreal, while others almost look 2D. I can’t quite put my finger on it… I think one of the things that make it look 2D-ish is the way you’ve dealt with the fabric covered stringers. They are flat. At this level of detail they at least require a bumpmap, but actually you could only do full justice to them by modelling the slight creases that occur between the ribs (like I did on the NA-57). Yes it will make your mesh a bit messy, but it’s well worth the effort. I’d like to see it with a strong bumpmap though. It could possibly do the job.
Well, I hope the next step is to indeed put a photo behind it and make it ultra-realistic?
And one more request… could we please see a close-up render of that lovely detailed gun turret?
Overall, excellent job!
Thanks for your comments, Skyraider3D.
A few remarks about the textures:
There is in fact a Bump map for the stringers but it is quite subtle, because those stringers are not too visible on the original aircraft. The reason why it looks just painted on or that there are prebaked lights is that i tried to enhance the stringers ( as well as some other detail) by adding “dirt” aound the creases and by lighting up raised detail in the Diffuse map.It looks a bit artificial some times but overall i am quite pleased with the results.
And here is a closer look at the Frazer-Nash “lobster shell” turret:

I agree - not really sure what the prop is supposed to be made of. Regardless, this is a sweet sweet model and texturing job. You must like WWI and WWII stuff eh? Like band of brothers?
@Hettinger, scrimski:
Propeller is made of wood, the grey parts are fabric covered.Spinner is painted metal.

Excellent model! To add a soot from the engine, lubricating oil on a cowl… Well and an environment corresponding:)
