Anyone have any opinions on AI online. Specifically the Game Art program. Id been looking at Full Sail but it looks like the type of classes offered through AI would provide more info and comprehension. Its not accelerated like FS but thats not really a concern.
AI Online?
Thank god I got to you before you went there. Art Institute is being sued 11 billion dollars by the federal government for F-R-A-U-D. Have you looked up info of AI under “AI Scam” or “AI Fraud” ? @@ Hordes of students have written bad reviews of that school, ESPECIALLY the online division.

I wasnt planning on enrolling right away. With all this mess in washington conerning for profit schools I dont plan on looking into a different school until at least a year or so from now. Currently im at my local community college (since relocation is out of the cards for me) and Im afraid the skills im learning there arent enouhgh to carry me into a career. Ive been doing ALOT of independant study but I would like to attend some sort of institution (preferably online) where I will learn what I need as well has have the degree to back it up.
Hey Jason,
I went to a community college, too, here in Nova Scotia. It was cheap but the quality was bad. I do have an alternative/ cheaper way for you to get the skills you need. I am doing my demo reel now as we speak at home.
Here’s what I wrote about online tutorials on a thread here:
Hey 3D Enthusiasts,
If you want to learn the software you need to get into the industry, I’d severely recommend Digital-Tutors. I can’t even begin to describe to you guys the amount of knowledge their tutorials have taught me. I can use Maya, Softimage, Mudbox, Zbrush, Affer Effects, Premeire and Photoshop way better now than I used to with the guidance of their instructors. Realizing that made me realize that all the money I spent to go to school (over 55, 000) was not well spent. I believe the key to success is not from school but through dedication, passion and self-motivation. All you need is the right info to get started and then you are off. If you want to get into the industry, I’d recommend getting a high end computer with a dual monitor, a high end graphics card, a headset with a mic, a wacom tablet, a comfy chair, loads of tutorials from Digital-Tutors and Gnomon Workshop and some pals through online who share you love of 3D, etc. Talk with each other, discuss problems you are having, post work on forums, ask for help on forums, etc. If you do all of this, you can acquire a very good reel to get you into the industry. You will save so much money from expensive schools and massive debt. I hope this helps aspiring people who want to make games and moves. I feel that if I can this word out to you all you can avoid the heartache of realizing that school wasn’t worth it; or that realizing 3D isn’t for you and you wasted so much money.

I have been using DT for 2 years and it teaches you everything you need. Industry professionals use it, so do students from around the world. Even people who knew nothing about 3D were able to pull off some amazing reels from DT and lots of practicing. The industry doesn’t care about a diploma from some school. They only care about what you can produce. If you do it this way, you’ll be at a head start to anyone else trying to get into the industry.
I lost lost of money to know what I know now. Many people I know are in 70 000 +debt and have no job. 80% of my class doesn’t have a job yet. I know a few have. Most my class mates were international. 90% were. lol Me and 2 other guys were the only Canadians in my class. Schools lie about employment rates, too. Soooo, hopefully this helps you. Try to avoid going to school. But if you do go, I’d recommend a public college vs. a private. Public colleges can at least have there credits transferred and they have more accreditation, unlike private ones.
Hope this helps. If you have any questions for me, don’t hesitate to ask. Been to 2 schools already.
