Aftereffects: Adding a scar or wound

#1

This is for a short film. I’m trying to add to the makeup on a woman that was in a car accident.
The shot is a woman being taken on a stretcher. We used a rig on the stretcher that attached the camera to it. So there is no camera shake at all. The woman does move around.

I’m fairly new to after effects but I was guessing some sort of texture could be put on a mesh and set to track with her. I understand it’d be tricky with her moving but it’s a short shot and I’m not afraid of keyframing frame by frame.

Please let me know what’s the best way to go about doing this. Anything else that will make the make up feel more appropriate for surviving a car crash is appreciated.

I also need a scar texture to use for my original idea…

Track the face, then parent the scar layer to it and position it in place…

I’ve experimented with tracking. Whenever I’ve done it it always follows my tracking point. Is there any way to have the layer be on its own x&y values relative to the tracker?

Also, though she moves, watching the footage again, I think it’s gonna be more difficult to just get the lighting on it to stay consistent, it’s a night scene and she is brought into inside of an ambulance. Quite a bit of change of lights on her face along the way. Is there a blending mode that will catch the lights on clip or do I have to recreate the lighting? Thanks

That’s a 3d task. I think Boujou and Pftrack are good at tracking geometry
then import in Maya or other 3d animation program , use avi as texture
and draw the scars on the mesh.

I have a tutorial about that using Mocha:
