in the interest of saving everyone time, here are some things you should keep in mind about truckers and their habitats.
1. change is bad, there is an all pervading mindset in the transportation industry that says if it ain't broke, don't fix it. a 2004 'peterbuilt 379 long nose' looks just like one from 1984, inside and out, from bumper to dash. you really can't tell the difference.
(the exception to the rule would be the volvo’s new styling and light clusters)
2.aerodynamics and streamlining are new concepts(within the last 5 years) for examples do a search for a ‘kenworth t-2000’, peterbuilt has a carbon copy of this-it’s the peterbuilt 389… they are both owned by ‘paccar’ so they share alot of components and designs
3. i would imagine that new fuel types would remove the need for extreme aerodynamics, so manufacturers, never hesitant to pander to their markets would revamp classic trucking styles(think chevy’s new version of old pick up trucks).of course top speed would dictate some streamlining…
4.for landbased applications, speed would be an extreme safety issue, as the center of gravity is very high, so some sort of inertial dampening would be necessary. also, the faster you go, the longer it takes to stop and the hotter your brakes get-so let’s get rid of friction based breaking…
5.driver’s field of view-always an issue, blindspots, blindspots, blindspots…you wouldn’t believe how much i hate the car known as the ‘mini’…
6. truckers have major hard-ons for their radio equipment, so keep the antennaes flying!
well, i'm sure alot of that was probably obvious, but i still have 24 more posts to go before i can post attachments... :banghead:
