Hey guys,

Some cool ideas for the future, I see this as to better our skills on the internet, working as a team and helping us practice our art and of corse make new friend with the same interests . If by chance it leads to something bigger…Bonus!!
This forum/medium is so much fun.

Here are some more concepts and i appriciate any constructive feedback, good and bad.

Cheers Mark

#122

please choose the one on the right thats awesome

great work going on here guys those 3d models are looking great and the 2d works good as always :applause:

edit :all i can think of thats wrong with the red car is that the windscreen might be too flat and make it difficult to see.

#123

Here you go, Battle Cruiser Mk I.

#124

Im sure i speak for all of us when i say: thanks!

but, doesnt curved glass cause distortions? besides, the material the screen is made of doesn’t have to be glass…it is the future we’re designing here! haha!

#125

hey, good work Mr Mark…as ever!!

i like where your going with the Hi-Cell car, and the ‘Antique’ Super-car is coming along nicely!..

now for some C&C…

Hi-Cell car:

  1. KEEP that design as-is, just remove 1 seat and it can be a standard car. however, to be the Hi-Cell Sports car…it’d need to be lower, longer, wider.
2.for the Hi-Cell ‘Sport’ version: it’s going to be capable of 500mph+ (800kph). its design would need to reflect this.
naturally, this will be when its in Auto-Pilot mode…for manual-drive mode the driver is restricted to a maximum of 120mph (192kph). the ‘Sport’ model wil only acheave top speed on one of a citys ‘low-resistance motorways’ where the air is artificially thinned to provide less resistance (ok…so i just made that up…might use it…who knows! )
    E5 Hydrocharge 2200:
seeing as this is all yours, im only going to say the following things:
  2. personally id like to be able to see the rear wheels.
  3. to me, it doesnt quite look like a car from the 2150’s
    USM Cruiser:
i think im going to have to post some explanitory sketches for this one.
dont get me wrong…i like what you’ve done…its just that my design seems to have misled you on a couple of points. details soon. my fault.

Thanx matty_uk, I agree the red cars windsceen needs work. I am going to rework the design a few more times anyway.

i only hid the back wheel for aerodynamics…

Thanx Dene, now i can rework the Hi-cell design. This was just to test the idea out. It needs to be beefed up and rounded off for the speeds it will be doing. Maybe the wheel have to be more into the body of the vehicle?? or maybe we should make the wheels into electromagnic lifters…no ground resistance then?? wheels only used for slow travel(city driving)

just thinking out loud…lol here are few alto-designs

#127

hey cool…i like the top-left & middle-right designs.

i agree…magnetic lifters would be handy for speeds over 120mph. these magnetic lifters could be incorporated into the wheels with very little visual differece. id imagine most of the work for the mag-lev would be done by the road itself. if mag-lev is used the car will need stabalising wing-thingies (ok…i dont know the ‘proper’ term for this…) that could extend from the body of the vehicle.
with regards to having the wheels within the body…how about, have the body exted over the wheels…i think that would be cool!!
the wheels still need to be really wide…not massively practical, but it looks really cool!!!
a small point: i think the wheel rims on all Hi-Cell vehicles would glow…the faster the vehicle goes the brighter the rims will get…it’d just look cool!
BTW: tech note: the wheel rims need to be quite deep and are made from a very strong, thin material. the tires are not made of rubber , and can be any colour. or even near-transparent…oh yeh…and they’re 1/4 inch thick.

realistically…such a future would remove the need for manual driving and wheels, but im having it so that Earth is still car-obsessed and few people want to hand over total controll of their car to a computer…the driving experience is a valued thing…but only on Earth…the other colonys find this to be one of Earth ‘little eccentricities’. the colonies use mass transit…btw.

Hey Mark,

Nice concept cars you are developing, and just for you my friend i did a serach and i found this, i think you are going to like.

http://www.cardesignnews.com/

There are areas in the site that you have to be a member to enter but still you can see some of the goods without being a member. So site its all about concept cars offical and not, so have a look and enjoy…

Cheers
Paulo

#129

WOW…there’s some impressive stuff there!! (and some…err…‘less good’ stuff)

#130

Great team work and spectacular concepts Dene and team. I wish you the best with this. Keep in mind even if no one in the industry is interested a good story will sell itself this is where independent films come from. If any of you get a chance, pick up this book http://www.wordware.com/cgifilm/images/cgicover.jpg from http://www.wordware.com/computer/.

I am currently working on another collab project but every now and then I get a break. If I can help model anything or give a crit here and there let me know.

#131

C&C is allways welcome!! (as are the nice comments!! thanx oh …AND the offers…thinking)

thanks for the links sllink

BTW: VERY impressed with the Shirow Project!!

#132

hey mark…just thinking…the Hi-Cell Sports car could have the seats mounted on some sort of mechanism to aid people in and out of the vehicle, much like the Toyota PM Concept . what do you think?

basically…id like to see as many cool things integrated into this vehicle as possible…lots of moving parts etc…

#133

right…ive been thinking.

this project is going to need a website pretty soon (to archive designs and focuss development via specific threads etc…)

if Anyone can help us out in this area it would be greatly appreciated.

This is the kind of site i’d like

any help on this would be wonderfull…from buttons and graphics to php coding etc…really…anything…even hosting…anything.

BTW: we’re allways looking for more people to contribute to this project. at this stage we need concept artists (i cant expect poor, overworked Mark (Element5) to do it all!! haha! ). so, if anyone is interested please leave us a post right here!!

Cheers
-Dene- (Project Leader)

i’m not very experienced in building starships, but i have gotten fairly talented at space backdrops and lighting effects, i currently am unable to post attachments, and am waiting for a response from the powers that be as to why…but what kind of strange and exotic star vistas will the ship be visiting? also thought of a sub plot, trying to make it coherent enough to share…

#135

hey dood… the reason you cannot yet post attatchments is that you need to have made a few more posts (i think its 30 or something).

backdrops would be very usefull!! especially planets / stars / star systems.
if you look through this threaad there should be a post from me about a race called the ‘Xenocephaloid’ ('Ceph). in that post there should be a discription of thier home system…if you fancy having a go at it.

Check out this link.

cheers

#136

hello again,

This has been a very full weekend, so i managed to some more sketches.

2 of the H-Cell and 1 of the Hydrocharge 2200.

All i think are still early stage designs, what do u think??

#137

Mark, these are coming along nicely!!! im very impressed!!

H-Cell

  1. i like that you’ve put a display screen in there…but…if things need diplaying they can be displayed on the canopy or on the drivers retinal HUD.
  2. i like the choice of colours
  3. gotta be really carefull not to make the wheels look too much like Back to the Future…enough not to get sued anyway…
  4. speakers…nice addition!!..but (‘oh here we bloody go’) sections of the canopy can vibrate to act as speakers. sorry.
  5. any chance the front wheels can be mostly exposed please?
    H-Cell Mk2
    1. VERY, VERY NICE!!!
  6. im not sure if the thing inside the car is a gear stick or a searing device. but, gear-stick is either uneccicary, or at the side of the driver (might look like the accelerator from a power boat)
  7. Rear lights. the material of teh vehicle can glow and produce the same output, maybe animated.
  8. where the ‘Door’ meets the underside…any chance that the door / transparancy can be extended just under the bottom here?

The H-Cell Cars are coming along superbly Mark…Excellent Job… as allways

Hydrocharge
this is looking very cool indeed mark! developing in an excellent way!!!
again, this is your car…ill leave you to it.

#138

just thinking here but,…

ok…to avoid the potential copyright issues with the Hi-Cell wheels…

when they ‘convert’ maybe the ‘tire’ could extend out from the wheel slightly (a few inches) to show some workings and glowing? (i notice that the tire’s have ‘segments’…very handy!!! )

sketch up soon

#139

Hiya Dene,

Glad u like the concepts so far.
We need to resolve the wheels and get a working design.
I am thinking while designing that folding wheels can be too bulky, if you take into consideration of the mechanics in such a simply styled vehicle. Maybe the wheel can move toward the vehicle when it is airbourne. They maybe stay in there position and stabilize the vehicle from tipping, the main lifter is the whole base of the vehicle and for if there is a power failure the wheels r there to soften the landing as the emergency lifter brings u in safely. I know i think to much and they are only ideas tell me i am yapping to much…hehe. but i want the design to work visually and we can get away from Back to the future look…

I drew 2 examples of the wheels. I dont seem to be able to come up with a simple solution…Help LOL

#140

nah…you’re not yapping Mark …its really nice to see your getting into all this!! (well, it makes me happy anyway!! hahaha)
i like the idea of using the wheels as an emergency landing device…thing is, folding wheels are just so cooool!!!

interesting ideas there Mark, i think i prefer the top idea.
(the bottom idea looks like a weapon, tee hee...er,...sorry.)

Note: dont want to get to hung-up on the wheel transformation details at this stage. we can allways come back to it when the cars are complete / near completion.

ahh…remembered…the mag-lev system and the system for air-travel are 2 seperate things…ill have to do more sketches…and thinking

       here's my idea mr mark...
