is there any chance I could get the moonbase model and some of the ships as well? I can give you guys the gate model I’ve been working on. dogmaD, you had asked me a while back if you needed help on the space station, and if you still do, I can model some parts for it.

Nice job mark as always I agree with Maxfx a bit more detail in it and it goes from really great to BIG. You will have some fun getting your hands on those models hehe good luck.

@Critterslayer: Hi don’t really know why you ask that question at DogmaD because he left the project hehe (no hard feelings DogmaD completly understand and I should do the same thing in that situation) anyways I’m the one working on the spacestation so it would have been a bit more logic if you’d ask me the question or Dene the question. anyways the mainparts are done so I’m waiting for some drawings maybe Mark could make me to put in some nice detail and make this spacestation really nice but sorry don’t need any help on it now hehe having fun on it all alone and if I finish I hope to pe proud of it and tell my kids later look what daddy made when he was young :p. anyways I’m on weekend now don’t have any classes tomorrow so I have some more fun doing some modelling and I’ll try to finish a lowpoly version today or tomorrow so Dene can have a look at it and tell me what he wants and what has to be changed

Well here it is then after a couple of days of modelling the Orion spacestation in a first stage. it is all lowpoly so it is easy to put in some changes. made this after the drawing I got. I think I’ll need some ideas from you guys for the detailling part. just let me know what you want to see and I’ll put it in especially for the factory hehe it is very very very low poly. for the rotating habitat part I thought of some kinda skyskraper kinda look like the new york skyline and other skylines like that but skyskraper isn’t the right word here it is more a spaceskraper hehe anyways make it look like a city on its own with a factory houses and commercial quarters let me know if this is ok

that’s a big station, as far as textures go, i’d direct you to the aegis site to read up on the materials section for the series, but it won’t let me read any of the posts there so i’m assuming no one else can either, maybe dene can send you some info on that…

also, i think that the lower sections with things sticking of would have each segment rotated 90 degress around the central axis of the station, kind of distributing the weight and keeping each area as free as possible from the rest, instead of having them all lined up with each other. so if you looked at it from the top it would be an x…

haha, i love that film!

a giro technitian is a reference to claiming unemployment benefit. they pay you (at least they did untill recently) with a kind of personal cheque call a girocheque, referred to as a Giro’, so the slang term ‘giro technitian’ essentially means that a person is claiming unemployment benefit. its just an amusing way of reffering to it really…

hey dene since you have all that time on your hands now, maybe you should try 3d modelling…or you can atleast hang a bunch of sausages from your living room ceiling…

well, project direction is something im thinking about at the moment, not sure i have time to learn 3D as i really ahve to get another job pretty quick to pay the rent. though im hoping ill have a few hours here and there to hang the sausages, or perhaps wear a deer carcass.

sorry monday never modelled planets and stuff could give it a try but I got still a lot of work to do on the spacestation. I’ll just keep posting updates and stuff and will be waiting for the project direction ideas if something isn’t right just let me know especially Dene to avoid that in the end we have to redo everything hehe it was your idea and one hell of an idea to.

started modelling the factory part of the spacestation this is what I’ve done so far after 1h30 of modelling

1: it is a personal/employe elevator could work with like large magnets (the rings on the side) when texturing we could make them glowing and all the cylinder in the middle could be made transparent with some fancy texture on it two.

2: another elevator but for cargo and stuff (is completly rigged for further animation with open and closing doors.

3: it is the construction part of the factory (nothing much yet still very wip but just to give myself some orientation)

4: the upper part of the factory just one of the buildings in the industry complex with a door for cargo and employees etc

well hope it is going the right way

jozef, wow man you’re a machine, that’s a good start, i think the idea for all the buildings is to make it utilitarian, the form comes from function, so it should look like it was built strictly with what it needs to do in mind, aesthetics if any, are a happy coincedence…

don’t worry about planets and backgrounds, that’s what i do, and mark does as well, so we got that taken care of…

here is just another update with a second elevator system kinda thing you can’t really see the details but there are a few in it though hehe. If something isn’t ok just let me know

the whole thing integrated into the spacestation: added a couple of low poly buildings don’t know yet what to do with it. any ideas somebody??

long time no updates :s:s

made some weapons after having talked to Dene he gave me some ideas and stuff so started to build in a weapon he had some concept from. did a quick animation of it but it is far from being finished so it isn’t a final version just to show you guys I’m still on it.

an excellent start!

one small issue.
instead of the doors opening ove the top, maybe have them sit level with the hull, then drop down slightly, the when they move tolet the turret out they’ll be under the hull, not sat ontop of it.

I am still here, been so busy. I am working on a promo animation where I work.

Station is looking cool, I couldnt get the animation that you did to load.

Seeing the dynamics of our team has changed, I will only work on what you direct me to do…basically streamlining and focus on whats at hand.

here we go with another animation added the details I found on the concept changed the door system. I’ll maybe just have a try at texturing or I’ll will go on with the rest of the spacestation I have three days so plenty of time to work on it.

took some time to make some progress had a very busy week found some time today to model so took out my mouse, 3ds max at like 10 o clock this morning and made the details mark drew.

I’ve bought a tablet so I’m also having some fun with that trying to improve my drawings skills so maybe I can making some concept art of you Dene or Mark have some ideas on how to improve this or some working methods I would be pleased to learn from you guys
