About the Animation Mentor

#1

Well, I’m from Brazil and sorry if my english isn’t so good. I’ll apply to Animation Mentor this year and I have some questions…

I heard about the Question and Answers that happens every week with the mentor talking to you about your work. My question is if the " Question and Answers" happens at night or you just have to call your mentor and start to talk to him. I’m asking about this 'cause I work all day and I have just at night to study, is it a problem? Should I just work at morning?

Thank you!

Hi,
I’m an Animation Mentor graduate and tutored the Maya Springboard class for them for a while. You will be allocated a ‘Question and Answer’ time with your mentor at a time that suits you. Students are from time zones all over the world and Animation Mentor makes sure the session times work for everyone. So don’t worry.

How often do you get to talk with your mentor?

How much time commitment on average is needed for the animation program ( per day) ?

Prereqs? Thanks

Hi,
The prerequisites and the other answers to your questions are all available on the AM site. They may have changed since I studied there. When I was a student there was one lecture to download and watch per week, one tutorial with about 8 other students in it and your Mentor, and one video review by your Mentor of your homework assignment. The minimum standard to get into the course was a high school graduation.
I recall there was some kind of specification of the minimum hours you could expect to spend on assignments per week for each class. You should check that out and see if it works with your schedule. It will be at least 2 hours per day. Some people spend a lot more time on the assignments than the minimum. It will help you if you are familiar with the Maya toolset before you commence the main classes.

If you really wanna get the most out of the program plan to dedicate AS MUCH time as you can.
I was in situation to work and attend AM at same time and I kinda missed a lot of in last 3 terms due to huge amount of work. So at the beginning assignments are not so time intesive but once you get into detailed stuff like polishing acting and well anything that requires time to be spent to achieve good results plan to dedicate a LOT more time or you will be missing huge part of learning if you just skip over it.
