About IPS Led Monitors..

Hello All Masters…

I want to buy a new Ips led monitor, so i decided to buy Asus mx279h 27" monitor…

But i saw the failures of ips led monitors… They have white glow and clouding problems…

Mustn’t i buy ips monitor? What’re your suggestions?

You’re talking about two different things. The panel type is IPS which is better at reproducing colors consistently regardless of viewing angle than other panel types (like TN). The backlight is another story. There are some issues with LED backlighting in terms of coverage and in terms of color consistency. If done right LED backlighting is fine for a color sensitive workflow, but it sounds like the designers of that monitor had other things on their mind. If you can still return the monitor I’d suggest looking at something designed for color sensitive workflows, like the Asus PA246Q which is in a similar price range.

I will buy a big screen monitor like them, and there’ll be a silly problem like this…what a stupid thing…

Though a IPS panel is still better than an TN panel, those are still cheap monitors at ±300$. If you want a near flawless monitor, you’ll have to dish out for a top of line Nec, Eizo, HP etc and those are much more expensive. In short, you get what you pay for…

The bright corners shown in the videos have nothing to do with the panel type, they could be TN, IPS, PVA or whatever and they’d still have the same issue. The backlight of the monitors are inconsistent which is causing some areas to be brighter than others. That has nothing to do with the panel type. Like vlad said, you get what you pay for because higher end monitors have much more consistent backlight.

wanting to get a u2713hm myself and i have been reading pages of reviews on amazon of people who have the same light bleed issue or yellowish streak in the middle of the monitor. the 2713hm cost about 700 dollars, why does it have these issues. some people on amazon returned there monitors up to 3 or 4 times and all the replacements had the same issues. there were some reviewers who had none of these issues but the fact it happens on monitors that cost this much is a disgrace. i have a ultrasharp 2407wfp i bought back in 2006 and it used to make this high pitch sound when i first bought it but i didn’t have the light bleed issue at all. i have also read a few reviews of the same issue with the ultrasharp 3014.

What are your suggestions? Which brand named monitor i must buy?

What are you after exactly?
IPS is fine btw, just don’t buy a crappy one. The range is enormous though, from 2 grands 10bit gamut 12bit LUT all the way down to acceptable true 8bit gamut 500$ Asus. With all kind of brands and performance inbetween, and on top of that some parameters are down to personal taste (reflective vs matte and so on).

If colour accuracy on a not-insane budget is what you’re after LG colorprime monitors this year are extremely well regarded.

If you just want a good monitor without weird artifacts, just figure out what’s available in your area for your budget that you can go and physically have a look at (to make sure you’re ok with the coating, glare, feel etc.) and read reviews for those.

I think, i will buy a led monitor…because i don’t wanna waste my Money for unnecessary one…

I liked Asus mx279h because it was matte and it was good for my eyes…27" and 1080p also…

I bought Asus MX279H 27" yesterday… I strongly recommend this monitör for all users…I loved it!! :slight_smile:
