A VERY basic question.

#1

I apologize if this question sounds a bit… basic… but I have not yet grasped a good enough skill at searching the internet, or knowing WHAT to search.

I am having troubles with the rendering in Lightwave. I want to know, first, how to SAVE the renders I make (just single images) and how to do LARGE or high resolution images (300dpi etc…)

I am going to use this for a project I am working on, and I would GREATLY appreciate if anyone could help me with this.

Heh… it seems like such a silly and basic question…

Thank you for taking the time to read, and also, I apoligize if it is in the wrong section.

If you do a F9 render you can select save RGBA from the file menu and select your format choice.

You can set the pixel resolution by selecting the camera and opening up the properties. You can then put in any pixel resolution. Don’t worry about setting the DPI just set the final pixel size. You can adjust the actual DPI in Photoshop after the render.

So if you needed 10in x 10in at 300dpi image you would simply render it at 3000x3000.
10x300=3000

hope this helps,
Jeff

Thank you very much! This is just what I was looking for! I figured out the “resolution” bit fairly easily with your guidence, it was just the saving bit that confuzed me. It took me a little while to realize that in “Render Options” I needed to have it set to have a ‘render display’. After that, it was a breeze.

Thank you very much, you helped me quite a bit. I was getting pretty muddled trying to look through my books and the internet.

Also, by selecting a name & format in the render options you can automatically save the images by hitting F10. If you only need one frame be sure to deselect “auto frame advance”.
