A Question

Hello,
I don’t know if I am on the correct place, but I have a question and I dunno where to go to ask or look for, I’d like to know if is there anyone who knows the name of the painter of this canvas

Thx

Where did you get the image? did it have a different image name? it might provide a clue.

The name of the image reads ‘era-victoriana’, but the riding outfit looks older, like 1700’s. Tricorn hats were very popular for a very long time, but mostly with men… this dress could be colonial, like the Americas, where women dressed less fancily… as was suggested, maybe you can trace it backwards from where you found it?

Not help, just a nitpick: I don’t really see a tricorn there but maybe a top hat -like thing with some kind of trimming. The basic dress isn’t that much different from the one you can see on Florence here:

I’d guess the latter half of 19th century but not 80s or 90s. And English. But that might be just because of the name.

You could be right, but to me the hat looks like this:

Here are some riding habits from different times,

I think the red one (1770 Colonial Habit) looks most like the one in the painting.

The woman in the painting is dressed for a colder climate, so it could well be England, or NorthEast USA if it’s colonial…

That’ll be:

John Everett Millais (PreRaphaelite painter living and working in his studio next to Hyde Park in London at the time - 1850’s - 60’s)
