7.0>Render speed & nice results

#21

Hello,

For me, I need first a Leopard compatibility and I will do my update. For the modeler, why not, but first of all, I need a perfect workflow in modeling app, like hexagon, really like it (and both world nurbs and polygons), if we can rebuild amapi 8.0, can be cool, in more stable.

But really, I think that a Nurbs within a polygon can be really productive, but that means also with displacement mapping a la Modo, and Zbrush style sculpting and texturing. If not its not really competitive.

But I have a deep preference for Nurbs, and a quick polygon modeling like Hexagon (Daz).

I hope that the compatibility for Leopard will be ok soon…

See ya …

Then let me allow one question. How do you attract users (new) to 3D? I think when users looking around for commercial 3D Software first thing they do is comparing/studying the galleries, then the feature list and finally the price,. The intitial question of this thread was rendering speed and nice results. Camera should be also up to date like it´s competitors. If this is not possible in the near future then EITG should consider adding a hook to EIAS, allowing 3rd party renderers. This would add also more value to EIAS, i think. If this is not wanted, of course, then like Ian said add stuff like Photon Mapping, if it helps, or things which makes GI better/faster, like final gathering, irradiance caching etc.

I think we have something like a top notch inbetween medium/high end app, which was once a high end app only. If EIAS would belong to the “Big 5” (here in CGTalk for example) then we would not discuss here so many times, what we need (because we see it from the others here) and what not, and concentrate only on sharing cool EIAS Tips and showing the latest stuff or participating, as proud EIAS users, in CGTalk competitions.

Well, that´s my 2 euro cents, (happy rendering!)

Well said it Stefan. I think the same.

When is this new Modeler slated to be release?

I don’t remember if that was ever said. I do however remember waiting almost 2years
after the initial release date for EIM.

I just don’t think it is so hard to see how this could all go wrong for everyone involved with
EIAS. Are we going to be seeing the new modeler in a few months? Or a few years?

I only see one area of benefit and that is texture mapping.

If you think about it now, Inside EI is pretty close to having the texture controls we need.
If we were able to flatten out the model’s geometry inside EI’s texture window, we apply
our maps with no problems.

And I’m sorry for coming off so harsh on my previous post, it has its roots in passion for using electric image.

Hey,

To the best of my knowledge, the answer is March. Though I may be off by a few weeks…

Best,
Ian
