4r5 crashes on save

#1

I’m new to zbrush (coming from mudbox)… sorry if this has been addressed many times before.

‘Sorry, zbrush is unable to properly complete this function due to a faulty or an incomplete installation.’

So thats what I get nearly all the time trying to save the project. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled a few times but no joy. Learning zbrush is difficult enough as it is without having this problem preventing me from moving forward.

Has this error been pinpointed down to something in particular that I can look into to prevent it from happening all the time. It also comes up randomly and closes zbrush down. :frowning:

Thanks.

FREE upgrade to ZBrush 4R6

I’m looking for a solution for 4r5 as I don’t have the minimum system requirements to upgrade, the OS in particular.
So I would like to know what is causing the crash if anyone has experienced something like this themselves.

My guess is if you don’t have the system requirements to upgrade to 4r6 than you are probably experiencing hardware issues.

Also, if you do a google search, this error seems to come up with cracked copies of ZB. Is it genuine?

i think 4r5 and zb 4R6 os spec are the same.
i think they removed the Crack Brush in zb 4R6

The minimum specs are identical between the two versions.

4r5

Windows : OS: Windows Vista, or newer, 32-bits or 64-bits.
Mac : OS: Mac OSX 10.6 or newer

http://docs.pixologic.com/getting-started/system-requirements/

4r6

Windows : OS: Windows Vista, or newer, 32-bits or 64-bits.
Mac : OS: Mac OSX 10.6 or newer

http://pixologic.com/zbrush/system/

So that can’t be the problem.

You might have a corrupted install. I suggest reinstalling, or better still just upgrade to 4R6 as it costs nothing and has some nice improvements over 4R5. It just doesn’t make sense not to upgrade to 4R6 IMHO.

Ah I should have mentioned that my current system is actually Win XP x64. So this is the reason I cannot install 4r6 however 4r5 did install fine but I guess this could be what is causing the problem.
Looks like its finally time to upgrade my machine, been putting it off long enough as it is.

As far as I know, 4R5 was the last version to be compatable with XP.
