3dsmax7 to Renderware issue

#1

Hi everyone.

I use 3dsmax7 and have a problem regarding exporting characters (animated with Character Studio) to Renderware. Basically, I’m not a programmer at all, but my friend is. I export my characters as DFF format with an accompanying ANM file. When I view the DFF in the Renderware Visualiser, everything is perfect. When my friend implements them into his game engine, however, the characters are on their side. That is, the animation works, but they are lying down, squirming like a fish! My friend can’t work this out, and seems to think it’s a problem at my end, but I don’t know what to do. I created the biped with default settings (it is, for example, upright), and, as I said, appears to be fine in the RW Visualiser.

If anyone has any tips on how to prevent or fix this, it’d be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

-valoukh

Hi,

I dont know anything abotu renderware, but I know you should double check to see that your models axis are the same orientation as the other characters in your game. Im am also trying to solve a similar problem with a Hl2 vehicle. I had my bone setup, and it appears fine in the Hl2 hammer map editor, but messed up in model viewer, but the wheels and bones are really messed up ingame. I would check the orientation in your modeling program and in your other program. I know for Unreal 2004, u gotta have the bones named the same, and u cannot rotate them at all if importing the skeleton from another model bcause your model gets all messed up.
