3Ds Max Morph Target Baking

#1

Hi,

I’ve been racking my brain trying to figure out how to bake morph targets to my character so I can collapse the morph modifier in the stack.

How do I do this? Is it even possible?

The reason for doing this is that I want to scale my character and rig (rigged with CAT) using the ‘Rig Resizer’ but it won’t work with the morph modifier applied to the character.

If the morph can’t be collapsed is there any way to scale my character and CAT rig?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Joe

You can’t collapse the morpher and retain its data, afaik.

You would have to store the morph data elsewhere and then reapply it. You may even be able to simply copy your morphing mesh temporarily, then collapse your original mesh, do your resize and copy the morph modifier back to the original. I’m not sure if that will respect the scale change, but it’s worth a try.

After running the rig resize, do the scales get reset?

If you toggle the skin modifier off does the mesh jump back to its initial size? If so then i ‘think’ you should be ok to keep your morphs as long as your morpher is below the skin in the modifier stack.

If the mesh stays at the scaled up size then as long as the resize was a uniform scale, then apply this scale to all of your target meshes and then reset their xforms. Add a new morpher modify and re-add the meshes.
