3DS Max 9 Tabs

#1

Hi Guys

I have just installed the trial version of 3DS 9 max and want to add the old style tabs toolbars at the top of the screen (tabs for create, render etc). Back when I first started using max 4 I used these all the time and when you’ve been using a program for a long time you get used to doing things in a certain way.

So can anyone tell me how to get the tab panels to appear. Or if anyone knows of an add on or has a.ui file with the tabs that would be great.

Many thanks

I have first used 3ds max from version 6.The tabs toolbars were removed from version 6.

3ds max 5 still had the tabs toolbars. I think the engineers of discreet did this for saving viewport space. And all the commands you can use the command panel to achieve.I think it’s all the same . Maybe engineers of discreet wanted to make 3ds max not like Maya’s interface.
So they removed this. And you can create a new toolbar, and then drag the tools on it to create your own tabs toolbar. Or you can send a Email to Autodesk asking this question,
perhaps they can solve your problem!

Or you must try to use the new interface !

Best wish!

I have a tabbed workspace, I can put the UI up if you like and you change it to what you want ;o)

From a post by Bobo here:

Max has had them since Release 3. They were hidden recently (Max 7,8,9) for copyright and UI speed reasons, but are still available in the code, so it is possible to hack the CUI file and make them visible again. (There are files on the Web for all later Max versions to enable them).
