CAPTURING A THOUGHT
Every time I turn this vase on end to work on the figure, I keep seeing wine spilling out, and running over the lip of the vase…So I just went with it…FLUID IN MOTION…:scream:

Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to the ancient and spectacular martial art form of Kerala (India), KALARIPPAYATTU :wise:
(sorry for the late entry  )
Base mesh made in maya… posed in Zbrush 3.1

#126

never heard of it but looks darn brutal to me  Great Anand - glad you’ve joined us!

a bit more, not much really - still working on the main shapes… haven’t touched any of the hands [avoiding fingers :P] - and the other side of this sculpture is pure guesswork LOL ! in one word - fun

EDIT: Oh yeah - if there’s a soul with the pictures of the other side of this dude I’d be greatfull… I can only find 1 picture on the internet :frowning:

#127

I started my basemesh this week end (with a little help from the basemesh proposed by Anand, otherwise I would still be busy until next week…I used his hands, feet and chest if that’s ok :))

-gilgamesh: nice start on your models, and courage for the rest!
-Malanjo: very nice basemesh you got there! I’m eager to see the end result…
-Intervain: Nice model you got there, the statue suggests some kind of concentration and serenity feelings to me already! Great start!
-Anand: I didn’t konw about that martial art either, but it looks great! Nice dynamic pose on your model.

Here’s what I got so far… still needs a LOT of tweakings … but damn, that would be for tomorrow evening, now I’m heading for my sweet warm bed. Good night all

Here is what i have done so far, right now i am just trying to stay away from all the muscles  . just need to clear my head a bit

#131

Hi, Magdalena! lit bit late, i m also in

#132

Morning!

The result of the last workshop was so amazing and now there are already so good starts here from everyone, that I’m a little intimidated to try something:scream: , but I just can’t resist.
I think I put my hands on the Colinet, just a little confused, I thought she made mainly bronze sculptures and the reference seems to be a oil-painting.
So no use in looking for other views of it:D …
Hope to post the first polygons soon!

THIS THREAD IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE INSPIRED AND INSPIRING BY THE MOMENT…FANTASTIC JOB SO FAR…EVERYONE:thumbsup:
Glenn

Just trying out a different material…going for a white polished marble look,… now all I have to do, is get rid of those remaining chisele marks, finish the toes, fingers ect. and polish the details…:scream:

#135

Hey Glenn - this sort of material shows off your work better I think… it was getting lost in the other one! I think it’d look cool with the default bone one that comes with zbrush [white/yellowish one] with a bit more monochromatic colour and depth value raised… just a thought  Keep rocking!DimSum - Thank you! awesome start! Can’t wait to see the sculpting!

Anand - thanks

Ville - can’t wait to have you here as well!

imtilongchar - excellent progress! Keep at it

Sabrina - AHA!!! GREAT!!! No worries - everyone’s welcome - beginner or expert alike  And I think you underestimate your abilities

#136

Glenn, this new material really shows the details.
imtilongchar, amazing! Can’t wait to see it finished

I’m not happy with what I’ve got so far. Something wrong is with proportions, right arm looks strange and I don’t know how to make it look better. I also still need to make a base shape of a head.
Maybe it would be better to start again from a beginning? What do you think? Critiques are welcome.

#137

Hey Glenn… awesome update!

Hi Cecil!.. looking cool already!! cant wait to see the next steps!

Quick update: Added the second combatant… I was making plans for this guy yesterday and Glenn read my mind and wrote it down on my thread!! :scream: Strange how thoughts connect over great distances!!

#138

hey all!

DimSum: great start. looks like a great base to start from.

glenn: i really like this white material, much better. all of your details gets much more out now.

cecil: sometimes it’s better to just work on and learn from your own topo. and then again sometimes it’s better to just start off on a “already made” base. it depends (in this case) of what you wanna learn. if you just wanna learn some sculpting it can sometimes be better to start with the pre-made, but if you wanna take the whole package i’ll say make it all on your own.
see how far you can go with what you already have and try and get some of the forms right.
that’s just my thoughts… -hope they where useful.

anand: man, that’s an dynamic scene. really like that you building up scenes.
just one small crit/suggestion.
i think the flying guy’s right leg is bend too much, compared to your ref (-and what i imagine possible:))

magdalena: i remember you asked if anybody could help you with some more ref’s on your sculpt.
he actually got a picture from the other side on his website. hope that helps…

i’ll see if i can get something up tonight or tommorow.

Hi everyone
I’m very happy to join into this new workshop, actually I’ve started with this male’sbody mesh modeled in maya, has I’m waiting to decide what to model. I would like to chose something related to dance but I haven’t decide yet! Good work to everyone

#140

excellent folks :bounce::bounce: - I’m loving what I see!

Rasmus - I have seen that one but alas it is the same… I have found a sculpture which has the same pose but it’s a female and has a rough finish with no muscle definition visible so I’ll just keep guessing  Thanks for looking though!
