3d max crowd simulation

I’m attempting to do a crowd simulation through 3d max for a project I am working on.

I know using massive would be the better way to go however I don’t understand the program currently and don’t have the time to learn it while working on the project

this is my current results… However I was curious if there was a way to slow them down, also if there was a way to make it so they don’t stop so suddenly when a collision is detected (I’ve messed around with the brake pressure which seems to help, however the rest of the animation change) I need them to still go straight through.

My other question is is there any way to make them interact with a long wall or hallway? I want to funnel them into a small hallway

I also would need them to continue going straight after going through the pillars how would i do that … I’m sure I’m just miss/ not understanding something in the help files. but it would be awesome is someone could stupify it for me l
