Aaah nice Thread, well here is a wire from the karakter of my current project, making my own music video for a new song from Muse

Diependaal,

Welcome. One thing I’m noticing with your model is that the legs are quite long, particularly for a child. While the hands look quite nicely articulated, they may be almost too much so for someone of a young age. What age are your aiming for, and are you using reference?

Cheers,

Wow, thats such a nice thread. Soooooo much impressive work!!!

A nice idea Rebecca!

But I“ve got a question.

I use Cinema 4DXL for 4 years and 90% I do architecturally things (for example, trade fair stands). But now I want to do some practise in Organic modelling.
Can someone give me some links for some tutorials to learn something about Anatomic Modelling? And at first, is Cinema 4DXL a good idea for this kind of modelling?

It would be nice if someone can give me some tipps.
Sorry for this english!

I did this in a morning a while back, just playing with muscle definition. 95% of the detail was done in maya, then tiny extra details and the nice bumpy shader done in Zbrush.

Frostie, very interesting anatomical study.

Note the intricate detail study of the muscle attatchment variance on the top and front of the clavicle bone.

It has detail similar to the work by Albinus and his detailed anatomy studies.

Albinus: http://special.lib.gla.ac.uk/anatomy/albinus.html.

When the clavicle moves with arm movement and rotation, we can spot the various layers of muscle that attach to the clavicle, unlike Gray’s and Hale’s anatomy we have a very clear depiction to references with Albinus if we memorize the three basic layers he sets forth. Some prefer the engravings of Albinus to the photography and personal subject anomalies of Gray’s.

Albinus took many cadavers to draw upon his refined studes, whereas Gray’s and Hale only take unique individual cadaver photographs, and musculature varies from person to person quite significantly.

In Frostie’s study, we can see a spline curve across the face of the clavicle bone where the muscle attaches on the front face in an s-curve and some deeper muscle layers and surface layers on the top attachment.

It's a very intriguing detailed clavicle study, Frostie.

Pity I didnt have any spare cadavers lying around. Could have helped but anyways.

I wasnt going for pure realism in that, as you can see the muscle formation in the abs is a little to harsh and that area in general would need more work. But for a few hours work im happy.

I might do some more work on it someday, just refining and making the form more realistic.

#208

Hmm, decided to post a head I did a little while back as well.

Nothing much…

#209

Hi Frostie,

Any plans to take the head into ZBrush? The area that I feel needs the most addressing is the ear - apart from that I can’t see any major problems, but it would be great to see this modeled in greater detail.

#210

Ye I think I might just do a little zbrushing at a later stage. What in particular do you have against the ear

#211

Frostie,

Can you post a side view of the ear? It might be easier to critique.

#212

Hi all, hi rebecca! I saw this thread today and i thought i could post something, so here is one of the last models i did, it was for the demo of zbrush for the siggraph this year,i posted the character in simetrical pose and another pose… so c&c welcome! thanks everyone!

#213

Wow!! Alex, I am your new fan!! Awesome modeling and great posing too!!

#214

Hey guys! I“d like to post mine too. For now it“s only the head but I“m already working on the body. still too wip to show.

#215

This is just something that I started working on yesterday. Just a bit of practice on detailing the skin. Only shitty thing is that im not using alpha maps ( cause I dont have any decent ones ) so its pore by pore.

Please tell me what you think and how it can be improved. Thanks!

It’s been long since last visiting here.

@ metamesh _ Beautifull work Alex, i always liked the way u ā€œseeā€ and model volume in your characters, i can’t crit anything there man…just enjoying your work mate!.

On the other hand i have some stuff in wip which u may help…here it is…hands not yet visible at the end 'cuase haven’t work at them yet …Torso is the main issue yet…

here it is…

metamesh,

That is an awesome model - truly inspiring! The only small crit I might have is that his legs seem just a bit bowlegged - the foot / ankle / knee relationship makes his weight bearing seem slightly less convincing than it could be. I love the design of the horns and the upper body. The lower arms seem just slightly too large proportionally, but that is nitpicking. Overall this model is great! Thanks for posting.

LikuidSnake,

Great start to this! Far more than I can do. I think the face seems a tad elongated, but it just depends on what you are going for. The lower eyelashes seem overly long and as though they’ve been lashed by rain, I might suggest tweaking those for a more natural look. Looking forward to seeing the WIP on the body!

Frostie,

That’s looking really impressive so far, I take it this is in Mudbox? How are you finding the program?

Dimi!

First let me say it’s great to see you back here. Since it’s much easier for me to do a paintover than to talk about suggestions, I hope you don’t mind that I did a paintover. Here’s the gif, then the jpgs:

Bear in mind these are only suggestions. I would recommend enlarging the head, and giving the muscles more prominent corners to give them a more solid sense of form and definition.

This is a paintover I did for grafi, but I think it’s useful just to quickly show the same principle, with which I know you’re well familiar:

In the PO I enlarged the shoulder and reduced the size of the lower arm slightly. These are all subjective changes, but I hope it’s a little bit useful.

Can’t wait to see your progress on this!

EDIT: A great resource that was posted that you might want to check out is here:

 Wonderfull …thanks…it is more than i expected Rebecca . Thx for the encouragement too.

To be honest i also prefer paint overs that talking …it’s more easy for me to understand your point of view and suggestions…thanks.

No i have to get this in my bubble head and fix the issues on him. Thanks again! …much appreciated ! :bounce:

#219

So far im liking it but that was my first attempt at using it. The brushes are nice and it preformes well at high resolutions. In someways its better than zbrush but in others its quite lacking.

Also, do you see anything that needs to be changed or adjusted? Waiting to be enlightened!

#220

Heya frostie, I’ll try to post a paintover either later today or tomorrow.

Dimi, you’re more than welcome! I’m glad it was useful. I really hope you’ll post your final piece here as well!

Cheers!
