3 Animations

#1

Hi could I possibly get some feedback on any these 3 animations? I’m not looking for anything specific, just general feedback would be cool

I think they look pretty good overall. The main thing I’m missing are subtle movements when the characters are standing still. There are to many moments where nothing seems to move on a character but when, for example, you’re standing, there will always be some shifting in weight and movement in your hips. I think that if you’d get that in your animation will look better!

Hi IanAni
I’ve seen the 3 reels. Your posing looks great, and I think you are on the right track. But there are some common problems that I see in them.

  1. Arcs, your rabbit has beautiful arcs, but your 2 other acting pieces really looked robotic without arcs. This is especially noticeable when the girl hits the dad - the path of action of hands is a straight line.

  2. Moving holds, With emphasis on the word “moving”. You hit a pose, hold the pose with a moving hold, then move on to the next pose. I think you are struggling with getting that pose to pose workflow nailed down. Sometimes I see your character slowly drift from one pose to another, and other times it just freezes when you try to hold that pose.

  3. Lack of secondary and overlapping action. SvenSDesign mentioned it in the post before me. Your characters seem to do one thing at a time, and while doing that particular action, the rest of the body freezes. I can see an improvement from reel 3 to 5, but its not there yet. Study your reference a little more closely.

Keep animating! I might suggest a few more body mechanics exercises to help you get hold of the intermediate stuff.
