2d frame by frame animation best way?

Hey,

i’m starting with my first short animation film.
Now i have to animate my first storyboard.

I have some questions about managing my layers and compositions in After-Effects.
Are their some good techniques that I can use?

I made my character poses in photoshop in seperate layer.

Now what is the best way to use these in after effects?

Is it possible to put all the poses in one composition and let it freeze at a certain frame?

Or is it better to just put each psd-layer next to eachother on the main time line of the main composition?

If your poses are a numbered sequence you could import them as a sequence as use time-remapping to put in your holds.
