2010 - License Install Problem

#1

I just installed 2010 Advanced, running on Vista Business 64

Here is what I’ve done…

Step 1.) Start>All Programs>Autodesk>Autodesk Softimage 2010 X64

Step 2.) RESULT: Error: there is no interactive network licence available to run Softimage.
Would you like to run in Standalone mode?

Step 3.) YES

Step 4.) Activation Dialogue box…

You must activate your Autodesk Softimage Advanced 2010 before you can use it. What would you like to do?

License status [1.1.0]

Step 5.) Activate

Select this option to submit an activation request or to enter an activation code.

Step 6.) RESULT: Licensing Error

A license error has occurred. Contact your technical support representative for assistance

To help determine the nature of the problem, the error code is: 110

Step 7.) Error: there is no interactive network licence available to run Softimage.

Any ideas?

Regards,

J

As XSISupport has entered the building and I cannot remove my post, I gladly yield…

That sounds like you installed Network.
When you installed, what product key did you use?

Use the product key 00000 and the serial number 000-0000000.
That will do a Typical Install with the licensing method set to Standalone (You have a Standalone license, right?).

To activate, you need your 2010 serial number? Do you have it?

Changing the licensing method (eg from Network to Standalone).

Note that if you install with the product key 591B1, you cannot switch back to Standalone (it didn’t work for me).

Hello,

I used the following product key:

591B1

And yes, I do have my 2010 serial number which I also input at the time of install.

Both the product key that I am using and the serial number were obtained from my Autodesk Subscription section.

AFAIK I have a networked license… but who knows, I’m getting more and more confused and frustrated by the minute.

Please let me know what I need to do in order to fix this.

I’ve got a networked license.

Right then, if I try and run 2010 nothing seems to happen, then after a long pause I simply get a dialogue box that says:

Error: there is no interactive network license available to run Softimage.

Would you like to run in Standalone mode?

I select NO

and that is it… the application just quits.

I have no idea why it is not finding the license server. I’ve checked the setenv.bat as you suggested, and the applicable lines are set as follows:

rem Licensing method: Standalone | Multi Seat Standalone | Network
set SILicMethod=Network

rem License servers specified from the setup. Format: [port1]@host1[;[port2]@host2]…
set _ADSK_LicServers=@192.168.1.102

I have no idea what is wrong or what to do next.

Any ideas what I could try?

Regards,

Joe

Did you get your 2010 license from http://registeronce.autodesk.com?

Did you update LMTOOLS with the new license file?

I am on the site now and trying, however, I’m stuck at the field were they are asking me for Server 1 ID : – what the heck am I supposed to enter there, Ethernet address? IP? What???

Please let me know.

Joe

server ID is the MAC address (also known as the Ethernet address or Physical address).

Use the MAC address of a physical adapter, not a virtual adapter.

Hello Stephen,

Thanks for your help, I managed to get 2010 running on my machine at last.

Cheers,

Joe

Me too! I just checked and it’s still not there although the website was updated to indicate that the file would be available for download starting yesterday.

Well I just got this response from AD, looks like some of us will be waiting. Bummer

Thank you for contacting Autodesk, Inc.

Once we have upgraded your serial number to the 2010 version of Softimage, you will see the download available in your subscription center. Our system is set up to automatically upgrade our customers and at this time we haven’t’ yet upgraded your serial number to the 2010 version. You should see this happen in the next week or so. I apologize for the inconvenience. If you want to try out the software, you can certainly download the Softimage 2010 as a trial version until your serial number has been upgraded. Please let me know if I can assist you further on this matter.

Best Regards,

Paul Griffis

So if I load the trial do I have to reload when my acct get’s updated? Probably?

I just wanna know where is that promised upgrade deal that will give owners of older versions a shot at getting 2010???
Been trying to get an answer from several sources for about a week now and so far all I got was silence. :banghead:

Once we have upgraded your serial number to the 2010 version of Softimage, you will see the download available in your subscription center.

Well, bummer indeed, as my new serial number and product key have already been updated: I can access them through the “coverage report” on the “Subscription Center”, but, you guessed it, NO DOWNLOAD. :argh: In answer to my “Business Service Request” I got a time-honored response along the lines of “huh, we don’t know what you’re talking about!”
Well done, Softimage!!!

I’m just sorry to see the same BS that I went though with v7.5 will again happen with 2010…

I have YET to see Softimage license automatically and without errors since this new licenser was setup.

Frankly, had probs with Avid’s licenser as well so perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised.

Never got the request home license stuff to work for me either.

I emailed back and forth with autodesk-support for 4 days before I got 7.5 running. With 2010 I’ll wait until I got a week of work until I try to install. Welcome to SI licensing hell.

Got 2010 installed and licensed with only a small amount of frustration (zero frustration would be too much to ask, right?)

The error FLEXnet Licensing error:-125,147 can be safely ignored.

The diagnostics do not show any problem. What does Perform Status Enquiry (Server Status tab) say?

Here’s a short video that goes over the main things to look at when you troubleshoot the license server. In particular, it shows how to tell whether the server is running.

Troubleshooting 101: The License Server
http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS13737415

If Perform Status Enquiry shows that the server is running and licenses are available, then the problem is that Softimage cannot connect to the license server.

Troubleshooting 101: Softimage cannot find the license server:
http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=TS13780212
Note – this second video was done for 7.5. For 2010, ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE should point to your license server, not to Autodesk.lic.
