2 handed sword rig?

Anyone having any luck creating a rig for a person wielding a two handed sword? I have tried using IK arms and parenting the goals to the sword but there is considerable popping and other problems.

What are your clever solutions to this problem?

Easiest way i would do: model one version of the character with the sword already in hand. Do another version with both hands grabing the sword already and rig accordingly. Switch models as needed in the scenes.

I see what you are saying, but it’s the “rig accordingly” that I can’t get. Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Have you tried adding extra nulls as targets for the elbows? This would (should) solve any problems with flipping elbows and such
