Hey,
With a bit of a weakness for gothic architecture and inspired by your great entries to the NHM challenge I decided to make a picture of a gothic archway I’ve found into a 2.5d mattepainting. My goal was to get a bit deeper into 2.5D, try something “interior” and to play a bit with different ways of creating foliage and ivy etc. I didn’t want to make it too old and destroyed though, more “rather recently abandoned” and now “sleepy” and calm. I posted screenshots of various stages below, please feel free to ask any questions.
Tools used were Photoshop, Aftereffects, Maya, Mental Ray and the “ivy generator”.
