1kb displacement tif file without error message?

Hi,

I have had this problem numerous times on different machines and mudbox licenses, I export a displacement map and the process seems to not produce any erros, “map extraction finishes without errors” … but the file that is written out is 1kb in size, so obviously something went wrong.

Has anybody had similar problems? I think it has something to do with being near the memory limit, i.e. I tried to export a 5k map and ran out of RAM, then went down to 4k where it actually seemed to finish the extraction but then the file was only 1kb.

If I go down to 2k I get a proper file but obviously the resolution is not enough. I got 16gigs of ram and even though mudbox is 32bit appliactoin it should have all the ram it can address available.

Its probably the memory limit on the software. I will try when I get home and let you know if it works.

how much VM memory is it using in the task manager?
