102 invisible mesh

#1

Ok I am a newbie and haven’t used modo just yet. I was waiting for the 102 update. Now I downloaded and installed it. I decided to try out the tutorials in the book. Well, I can’t do that. I open a file, well, it opens and the names of the model appear in the mesh list, but there isn’t any model or item or anything in the viewport. It appears to be completely blank.

Please help.

in the mesh list double click on the highest name of the mesh in the hierachy and it will show you all the layers.

If that is the case.
I myself just barley got 102 installed and am poking thru the menus to see what new.
so hope that helps

Thanks for the reply, but seeing the layers in the list wasn’t a problem it was seeing the mesh itself. I am used to c4d which centers on the last save position for that particular file. modo seems to center itself just on the last position you used regardless of the file. The last position was not anywhere near 0,0,0 so I couldn’t find it. The tools for moving and rotating the viewport act different too so when I got lost it was odd trying to find my way back to 0,0,0. I found a command called reset and took a shot. Is there any other way then the reset command?

I seem to be hitting the reset command a lot now.

Just a side note and in no means a rip on modo, But I find c4d much easier and less confusing to use as a beginner.

hit “a” to autofit the model into the viewport

Ahh, yes so simple. Thank you. Was that in the beginning of the book? If it was I missed it and if not it should be for the next printing.

Now back to work…

Thank you.
