Hi all, its been awhile since I posted here. I am trying to achieve a certain effect in maya would like to know best way to go about it. I would like to have some objects (random shapes) appear to be floating in zero gravity slightly rotating, …perhaps bumping in to each other . I feel like having a particle system and instancing a few objects to them would be the way to go. Im just not sure the difficulty level of how to go about it, I know particles to a certain degree but this sounds like it involves some scripting which I am not versed in. Can any one point me to a tutorial or have any tips on how to get this started? google was not all that helpful =(
Zero Gravity effect
could emit them really slow then add a drag force an use some gravity to push an pull them
as a base
I see, would you suggest using Nparticles or just the regular particles? I mean ideally Id like to replace them with small shapes that were floating if they hit each other they would collide and repel.
If you don’t have that many objects, and also want accurate geometry collisions(particles use sphere collisions) then it might be easier to simply select all your objects then do “create active rigid body”. Then under initial settings of all the created rigidBody nodes give them random values for initialSpin and initialVelocity.
