Is there anyway to use Zbrush GUV in messiah, and reduce the seams?
I’m not sure if that’s what this shadow area is. I have used a ZB GUV normal map and in messiah i have checked the Nomal on / off could not really see a difference.
thanks

Can you post another screen shot with the fish rotated differently? At first glance, it appears to be polys picking up shadows. Are you using Pregenerated polys and if so, what’s the Sublevel.
Nice Coelacanth by the way!
First i have to tell you Thanks for the SSS Video. Instuctional and fun!
I will send requested Coelacanth info friday (i’m on a film shoot till then, and won’t have access to it.) sub levels tried at default 3 and 10. i also tried the light with / without shadows
i posted the Coelacanth at ZBC.

i realy want to learn messiah so i was using this fish for my tests. I look forward to trying your SSS on it! hurry up friday!
Try playing with the metanurb settings. It defaults to 3 but sometimes when your mesh is really lean and the lighting is harsh, Messiah doesn’t quite know what to do right on that edge where a surface turns from being lit to being unlit. Upping the Metanurb level to 4 sometimes does the trick. (Animate, F3, MetaNURBS tab) Although with displacement. . . hmm.
Its just a little dance you have to play. Messiah doesn’t really do “true” sub pixel displacement so you have to mess around with of how much resolution is in that displacement. Pre-Generated polygons seem to work better than the Default. And don’t be scared to upping the Sub Levels higher than 10. Just. . . be prepared for some crashes to your desktop if you set things a little high.
I’m sure you will find your sweet spot.
