ZBrush Displacement Map Merging Model ertices in Maya



I am having trouble with a Zbrush displacement map I have brought into Maya.

The displacement map is merging vertices on my Maya base model, where there should be no geometry at all, see screenshot below:

This is the model in ZBrush and what it should look like:

My maya settings are as follows:

  • obj imported with multiple objects turned off
  • alpha gain: 1
  • alpha offset: -0.5
  • feature displacement turned off
  • mentalray subdivision settings:
    • Approx Method: Spatial
    • Min Subdivisions: 3
    • Max Subdivisions: 6
    • Length: 0.001
  • Quality Render Setting: Production

Does anyone know why this is happening?
