HI John,
Welcome… but come on… sunny!! Dublin!! you must be joking, right?

Are where you working as a 3d animator in Dublin?

I’m in a company called screen scene doing 3d for commercials and film - We just did a set of ads with ruairi robinson that are quite nice - have a look here - http://www.3dluvr.com/ruairi/milk/milk.htm

Yeah dublin is no where near as nice as spain - Raining at the moment. As someone said, ireland would be a great country if you could put a roof on it…

We could surely do with some of that rain down here. for most of the year there is no rain fall and as a result water is like gold here. It’s one of the few thing I miss about home. Where I lived you coulf drink water stright from the tap but here I have to buy bottled water for all drinking and cooking purposes. You get used to it but requires a different mindset.

Of course I have heard of screen scene and Ruari (loved 50% grey and the milk ads were excellent too). It’s nice to see the 3D scene is happening at home.

Those milk shorts are hilarious

I was in Ireland in june last year. I actually thought the rain wasn’t that bad. Didn’t get more rain then I would’ve had over here.

Hahaha, those commercials are great! Will the remaining three be available for download later on?

Oh, and welcome.

Yeah I reckon they’ll be there for a good while. It’s been fairly good so far this year rain wise but apparently the amount of rain fall per year is consistent, it merely changes the amount versus frequency of rainfall…

I’ve been living just off dame street for around 3.5 years now and it’s bottled water for me here too - a gallon of water is more expensive than a gallon of petrol here for some daft reason…

#8

Holy cow!!! I nearly had a heart attack at the cost of petrol there the last time I was home… here it’s about 55 - 60cents a litre and when I was home it was close to 1euro.
And I used to live in South Circular and went to NCAD and the water was pretty dire there. I guess it’s the same for all cities… Another bonus of where I am is there is traffic is light, boy did I hate driving around Dublin. Mind you, it’s slighty safer than walking about.

Yeah, gonna try and buy a house in the next few months so will have to look at driving options, much as I hate to do them - how long have you been in spain?

I’ve been living here in the Canary Islands for 2 years now and before that spent 3 years in Singapore.
I just spent the morning car shopping and thankfully it will work out alot cheaper here than in Ireland… I presume the insurance thing for young male drivers is still getting worse…
I remember when I was 17 the insurance was crippling and only became reasonable for over 21s. When I turned 21 they moved the ceiling to 25. Sure enought when I got to be 25 it had moved to 27, i turned 27 it turned 30 and so on… I remember getting a quote of 3000 punts (irish pounds) at one point. My younger brother was recently quoted something like 4500euros.

Anyway I am looking forward to having my own car again. When I was living in Singapore there was no way I could afford even a basic car because the cost of cars there is 3 times (seriously) that of any european country. Luckily the public transport was so good.
